Oh. In that case, I stand corrected.They weren't. The Hattians were the earlier people, and as far is known, spoke a non-Indo-European language, whereas the Hittites (Nesili in their own language) were Indo-Europeans.

I don't know much about that, but I'm not too surprised. It surprisingly also fits with recent genetic discoveries.
