From the Wikipedia entry on David Hasselhoff (1952-2033) accessed October 20, 2058:
Hasselhoff's early career focused on acting. Though he did meet with some success on daytime television and starred in B-movie release Starcrash (1979), Hasselhoff was unable to break into either primetime television or major motion pictures. David Hasselhoff turned his talents to his singing career, with somewhat more success in Europe than the United States.
His true talents, however, would lie in politics. Encouraged by friends to run for political office, Hasselhoff was elected mayor of his hometown, Baltimore, Maryland, in 1988. He served three terms and was credited for turning around the economically-depressed and crime-ridden city, boosting its tourism and cargo-handling industries.
In 2004 Hasselhoff ran for a seat in the US House of Representatives, but was narrowly defeated. In 2006 he was elected United States Senator for the state of Maryland. By 2018 Hasselhoff had become Senate Majority Leader and chaired the Armed Services Committee. In 2022 following an unsuccessful vice-presidential bid, David Hasselhoff was appointed US Ambassador to Germany, a post he held for eight years before retiring from public life.
