Hasselhoff's early career focused on acting. Though he did meet with some success on daytime television and starred in B-movie release Starcrash (1979), Hasselhoff was unable to break into either primetime television or major motion pictures. Perhaps his place is taken by Richard Dean 'MacGuyver' Anderson... Who then becomes an immensely popular singer in Norway and Sweden
But then without Knight Rider, it's unlikely MacGuyver and therefore Stargate SG1 will ever exist

MacGyver owes much more to James Bond and Mission: Impossible than to Knight Rider. And as long as Kurt Russell and James Spader are around we still get the Stargate movie and presumably the entire franchise. RDA's career proceeds on track.
