No Conrad leading up to 1914

Franz Graf Conrad von Hötzendorf

I was looking for the Alternate to Conrad if he was not chief of staff in 1914 who would his replacement be. A good reason for him not to be I list below.

He came into opposition with the foreign minister Graf Lexa von Aehrenthal and had to finally resign from his post at the end of 1911. Instead of this he was appointed to be an army inspector. However within a year later, on the12th of December 1912, Conrad was reappointed chief of the general staff on account of the intensified political situation.
Quoted from http://www.austro-hungarian-army.co.uk/biog/conrad.htm

Is there any worse choices than him and who would have been the best realistic replacement. ?

As Austria lacked any recent military experience it is hard to see any candidate that would be much better or worse than Conrad. I may be mistaken, but Potiorek had ambition to become one, and it is not hard to see he could be worse.

One pick is Friedrich von Beck-Rzikowsky he was Conrad s predecessor (as of 1906). and was still alive in 1920. Just do not get rid of him. And you do not lose the Staff officers the Idiot Conrad replaced. Conrad was a fool whose biggest failing was if someone knew better than him he fired them in a vain attempt for him not to look bad.

Put someone like Svetozar Boroević under Beck-Rzikowsky by 1914 that could step up later in the War AH might do massively better

Also get rid of the extreme warmonger Conrad you might not have a General war in 1914.
