No confidence in Brandt

Barzels idea was, that he could get a better deal for the Ostverträge, but I doub it. The Soviets and the GDR would at least wait for the next election before they change their positions.
Formally the next election would be in 1973, but I´m sure , the pressure on Barzel to hold elections as soon as possible would be to strong. So we still have a election in 1972 and even if the CDU/CSU do better, I just don´t see them win a absolute majority. So Barzel will have a very short term as Chancellor. In the short run not so much change.
In the long term: Propably after be the "comeback kid", Brandts mythos in the SPD could be even stronger than IOTL and Schmidt and Wehner don´t dare to dispose him in !974.

The reason it failed was because the Stasi bribed some CDU MBs to vote against, though that didn't emerge until recently. Otherwise Guillaume's cover would've been blown earlier than OTL.

This is kind of a problem for the POD. For some reason the GDR has to decide, that they don´t interfere.
