No Compromise of 1850- earlier CW ?

Just read in the book on the biggest lies in hist bout the Compromise of 1850 which was drafted to avoided secession in the aftermath of the Mexican-American War- now, WI there'd been no such compromise between the North & South ? Could full-blown CW have broken out 10 yrs earlier than OTL ? How would such a war have developed & progressed ?

Would something replace the Compromise? Something like the Wilmot Proviso would probably have left the slave states feeling trapped and might force an earlier war.

No compromise of 1850 would put the blame on the North so to say, and would likely make the war less popular amongst the Northern populace too.

Not to mention this makes Missouri, Kentucky and Maryland all the more likely to join the Southern camp.

Both northern Whigs and southern Democrats were unhappy with the compromise. Who would be blamed and which way the border states would go depends on how the Compromise fails.

For example, if the Compromise goes through as in OTL, but the Fire Eaters decide that's not enough, then the southern Confederacy is probably only going to consist of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and South Carolina.
