No Betrayal of the Cossacks

If you're Canadian (which I assume you are based on your username), why bash the West? You're part of it.

And as far as people who escaped prosecution in OTL, what exactly did they do to merit prosecution? Simply fighting alongside the Nazis (or being members of groups that had large numbers fighting alongisde the Nazis) or full-blown massacre and mayhem?

While not dealing specifically with the Cossacks, you may want to have a look at Christopher Simpson's 'Blowback', an an<alysis of the effect of recruiting collaborators on US intelligence and its effectiveness versus the Soviets. Some of the things the Vlassov Army, Ukraninian nationalists, Balts and Croatians did in the service of the Nazis were pretty sickening, and separating the guilty from the innocent was all but impossible.

Hmm, well here's my take on this. A lot of the Kazaki, IIRC, supported the Allies (aka the Red Army), so they would've already proven themselves to be "useful" (note the quotation marks) for the anti-Nazi cause. The trouble is, though, that the Soviet Union already had "decossackization" policies in place, so I would assume that if given the opportunity, many of them would chose to leave. Thus, if the topic of the Kazaki can be avoided at Yalta (or if Roosevelt and Churchill say "no" to Stalin - Churchill more likely to do that, IMO), then maybe the Betrayal wouldn't have occured. If North America and Western Europe weren't going to take them, there could be other countries that could - Turkey, for example.

You actually have a point there, even if you expressed it in a rather insulting manner.

The rank-and-file of the various Cossack bands, Vlasov's army, etc. would not be particularly well-educated people and might well fear blacks.

However, do you have any specific incidents involving rural Russians/Ukrainians/whomever seeing blacks as devils?

Furthermore, even if they are frightened of blacks, they're still not Afrikaners. Their committment to the National Party and its ideals might not be as strong.

The National Party was anti communist right?, I think that will appeal to them more then segregation, although as they integrate into white South African society they'll probably pick up the general racist attitudes.

Fun Facts: In South Africa, the Communist Party was originally set up for white workers who wanted protection from cheap black labour...

CG,

Just because the children of Vlasov's army are indoctrinated at home and get anti-Communist propaganda in schools doesn't mean they'll believe it.

The hippies, after all, got the same thing and look how well THAT turned out.

And most hippies, IIRC, came from normal middle-class homes and weren't subject to popular disdain b/c their fathers had collaborated with Hitler. The second generation might have the educational level of the hippies and share at least some of the social grudges of the blacks.

Am I commiting racial crime by not sticking to approved POV?

If you're bashing your own country and culture (Canada) in defense of a country that would have gladly leveled yours once upon a time, a county that most assuredly did NOT live up to its promises of social egalitarianism and all that (the USSR), you're being silly.

The middle-class people in the West who romanticize Communism never had to live under it.
