Of course, the Battle of New Orleans in Jan 1815 was 1 of the most pointless in hist, given that the Treaty of Ghent had been signed in 1814 but the combatants hadn't actually heard yet The British forces commanded by Gen Edward Pakenham included some highly formidable veteran regts from the Peninsular War, who suffered massive losses from the main frontal assault on the American breastworks. Now, WI this battle hadn't been fought, with these Peninsular War vets being available to fight elsewhere ? What difference say could they have made at Waterloo, where Wellington OTL did sorely miss these seasoned troops ?
