What if the Austro-Hungarian army remained on the defense on the Italian Front in 1918? Could the avoiding of the losses make Austria-Hungary win the OTL 3rd battle (Vittorio Veneto)? What happens after?
Also, to improve a bit more the Austro-Hungarian situation, Austria-Hungary doesn't send divisions and artillery pieces to the Western Front.
In my opinion, not launching this disastrous attack would have significant consequences, and not just on the frontlines. Instead of wasting resources with the offensive, the Austro-Hungarians could focus on strenghtening their positions behind the Piave River, build up supplies, and above all, replenish morale (the POD itself is a huge morale boost to begin with).
The OTL defeat at Vittorio Veneto was largely due to low morale, which sabotaged the counter-offensive of Borojevic, which had a good chance to push back the momentally overextended Italians.
So what do you think?
