NKPA Defeated 1950

Assume US intelligence presents clear warning of the North Korean intent to attack& the US leaders take this seriously. This leads to a defeat of the NKPA near the border & its near destruction by September. The ROK/US forces never retreat south past Osan. I'm not proposing a curb stomp by uber UN forces, but still a decisive defeat of the NKPA in a necessarily bloodily campaign.

How much longer is the war in Korea likely to last & what are the knock on effects for the Cold war?

At what time?

The US was disinvested in the ROK and its desire for a ten division offensive army. It was disinvested in the ROK ten division defensive army. It had an incoherent policy regarding the ROK as a political institution. It lacked the capacity to respond to alerts. So when US policy changes and what these changes for US and ROK capacity is in Korea matters. ( cf: KIMH & others.
