Nizari Ismaili state

Historically, the Nizari's of Alamut were destroyed by the Mongols in 1256 with the catastrophic fall of their capital, without the Mongol invasions or perhaps with a better homebase (Nizari Egypt FTW...that is if they can overthrow the Ayyubids) could they have been more successful or perhaps founded a second Ismaili state akin to that of the Fatimids?

Actually, the best place for the Nizari build from to found a state is the place they finally retreated to--Wakhan, Gilgit and Baltistan in the upper Indus Valley. From there, they can build and finally take Srinigar and Kashmir, then attack and defeat Tibet, converting Buddhists to their version of Islam after the Mongols withdraw from there.
