So Nixon wins over Kennedy (duh), and lets say he gets reelected in 1964, how would a President Nixon deal with the Vietnam War?

A couple thoughts IMO.

-I think one of the main reasons LBJ stuck to it in Vietnam was to not look weak on Communism. If Nixon's the President, he may not have the need to look tough on Communism, because he already had a pretty tough record.

- Nixon probably would not consider the Vietnamization strategy in the 1970's. Its actually possible that Nixon and Henry Kissinger never meet. Unless they are introduced by Rocky or someone.

-Nixon's vice President would be Henry Cabot Lodge Jr., in OTL he was the Ambassador to South Vietnam, why is this important? In OTL, Ambassador Lodge proposed South Vietnam become a U.S. protectorate, and relinquish their independence. Might Lodge convince Nixon to do this?

-Might North Vietnam react differently to a Nixon-led War effort than a Johnson-led war effort, possible. How might Nixon react to a Home-led PEace Movement differently to Johnson?
