Nixon President in 1955.

In September of 1955, President Eisenhower suffered a heart attack that had him in the hospital for several weeks. What if his heart attack is more severe and it kills him, leaving Tricky Dick as President in the 50s? I'm guessing he wins a full term in 56 due to the sympathy vote for Ike. A lot of stuff happened in Ike's OTL second term: The Little Rock Nine, The Suez Crisis, the creation of the Interstate Highways, and more. How would President Nixon deal with it? Would JFK still be the nominee in 1960 and beat him as an incumbent?

For Suez, he would give the UK, France and Israel some breathing room. We now know that Eden's Cabinet, particularly Macmillan, exaggerated the balance-of-payment figures in order to wrest No 10 from Eden's hands. On CR: Nixon supported integration, and even received the endorsement of Dr. King Sr. and Jr, before they reversed themselves and went for JFK. Interstate Highways: he was Ike's emissary to the states on that project. I'm unsure whether JFK would win in '60, but it depends if Nixon goes against his beliefs and allows what we'd today call 527s to mount the anti-Catholic campaign of OTL. Butterflies are all over the place, especially on Vietnam. He would also have to deal with Joe McCarthy, who denounced Nixon in the end.

I concede on the Tail-Gunner, but my other points are still valid. This has been done to death (including by myself) , use Search.
