Nixon dropped 1952

Could the scandal about Tricky Dick's gifts have persuaded Eisenhower to drop him?

If so

1) Who does Eisehower run for vp

2) Who is the Republican candidate in 1960

(By the way I do not assuem they would be the same person)

it would probably make the election a lot closer then it was OTL.

Ike was the closest thing to God on Earth at the time, no way is that election remotely close. Remember that one of the Cs in K1C2 was "Corruption"- all the cronyism and corruption scandals of the Truman administration plus Sparkman's wife being on his payroll.

The Senator from Formosa (Knowland) would replace Nixon and most likely run in '60- gets trounced by JFK.

Would Rocky be able to defeat Knowland for the '60 GOP nomination? Seems like he'd have a better chance than he did against Nixon. Also, probably his last shot assuming the OTL conservative tide within the GOP.

Ike hated them both: Knowland as a dumbass, single-issue blowhard, and Rocky as a spending addict. The base will probably want Knowland, plus a fair amount of Republicans defect to JFK simply because he has a presidential aura and Knowland doesn't.

I'm most curious in Nixon's fate. Would he be able to recover politically, or would he spiral towards a Joe McCarthy-esque ending?
