Ninoy Aquino, President of the Philippines?

Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. was a former Philippine senator and one of the more famous opponents of the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos. In 1983, after three years in exile, Aquino returned to his home country only to be assassinated mere seconds after setting foot in his homeland's soil. His widow Corazon Aquino, a housewife with no political experience, was elected president in 1986, with her victory being secured thanks to the People Power Revolution which kicked Marcos out of power for good.

WI Ninoy survived? Let's say that the bullet that hit the back of his head instead hits his leg or somewhere else. Could he become president, and, most importantly, how would he be as president? Would things be different, or mostly the same due to circumstances outside his control?
