Yes, but so was Clinton, and he remained in office. One for heroin use in his 20's, the other for trespassing on military property, if my memory's correct. In practical terms, Ted couldn't be elected, because Chap involves death. Here, I think after eight years of Bush, it's possible. Especially since his crimes are "victimless" (except his health). The only victim being any chance of a political career, which has more to do with the absurd nonsense he espouses such as the Jenny McCarthy vaccine business, Bush being GMA (allegedly rigging a close vote in a swing state with voting machines) and generally being the most quixotic Dem leftist since Gene McCarthy. Even Bill Clinton tried rec drugs. I could see him being Congressman from Pelosi's Mission District, where people are more in sync with his views. Perhaps even Senator/Governor from California. Only a bit left of Boxer, Feinstein and Pelosi on bread/butter except on the conspiracy theories. Remember his father's quote "I'm not their Wayne Morse" in reference to the radical/hippie crowd? Now the modern version is his only constituency. This is what happens to US political dynasties, and it's quite sad, even from my GOP standpoint. If somehow Hillary or Obama had appointed him EPA Admin (as some thought), he'd get interesting headlines. Not the sort conducive to promotion either, except imposing regs that David Suzuki would find extreme...
In the end, really a sadly wasted talent re extremist views and criminal record. Pelosi, is well, Pelosi. Palin is her "last press conference".
