Nickelodeon's Biggest Decision

January 20th, 2007

We open at CBS Corporation headquarters.

Enter Sumner Redstone.

Redstone: So, we're facing what could possibly be the biggest sale in history!

Cut to CBS Corporation CEO Leslie Moonves.

Moonves: You don't mean-?

Cut back to Redstone.

Redstone: Yes, Mr. Moonves. I've decided last week that National Amusements will buy up Disney for $6 billion!

Cut back to Moonves.

Moonves: But... Mr. Redstone, you already own a lot of channels through National Amusements! You own CBS, half of The CW, MTV, Nickelodeon, and even VH1! Why do you want to buy Disney?

Cut back to Redstone.

Redstone: We're also buying up Warner Bros.

Cut back to Moonves, shocked.

Moonves: Wow, Mr. Redstone. Are you sure the FCC is gonna let us get away with this?

Cut back to Redstone.

Redstone: There's a 50/50 chance of the sale getting approved. I already offered to buy up both companies for $6 billion, and sent the conditions of the deal to the FCC for approval.

Cut back to Moonves.

Moonves: Still, why do you want to buy up Disney and Warner Bros?

Cut back to Redstone.

Redstone: Well, we want to add more content to Nickelodeon. And Nicktoons Network could really use some more programming for once.

Cut back to Moonves.

Moonves: We can always produce more original Nicktoons.

Cut back to Redstone.

Redstone: Yes, but I want more variety in Nickelodeon's schedule.

Thirty days later

Cut outside of CBS Corporation headquarters. Moonves and Redstone are waiting for a response.

Suddenly, a response comes in the mail.

Redstone: They actually approved the sale?

Cut to Moonves.

Moonves: What now?

Welcome to my first timeline! And thanks for reading.

A few introductory notes: We're mostly going to be looking at the effects of the sale ITTL had Sumner Redstone wanted to buy up Disney and Warner Bros. And there are going to be a lot of them, seeing that ITTL, Viacom purchased Disney and Warner Bros.

Also, IOTL, the FCC would reject Viacom's offer to buy both Disney AND Warner Bros. ITTL, said restrictions don't exist so the FCC approved the sale ITTL.

This timeline is going to focus mainly on popular culture.

The next update will be here tomorrow at the earliest.

Does this mean that Marvel will still be brought into the fold? I also wonder if anything from Cartoon Network will feature in this tl. Subscribed

Yes, Marvel will still be brought into the fold.

What will change, however, is that Viacom will buy out the rights to DC Comics as well ITTL, in addition to Marvel. But the two comic companies will not have any crossovers with each other, as prior to the Viacom buyout ITTL, DC and Marvel were rivals (as they still are IOTL).

And if you're talking about Cartoon Network, then Dexter's Laboratory will start rerunning on Nicktoons Network in June 2007 ITTL.

And this is unrelated, but Boomerang will start airing shows from the 90s era of Disney Channel/Playhouse Disney/Toon Disney beginning in 2008 ITTL.

Not to mention that CBS Corporation already owns half of The CW IOTL, but they will buy the other half of The CW from Warner Bros. ITTL.

Yes, Disney XD will still exist, but it'll air seasons one through five of Fairly OddParents in addition to its real launch programming ITTL. (keep in mind that I was referring to the US version; seasons 1-5 of Fairly OddParents air on Disney XD networks outside the US IOTL).

Phineas and Ferb will also still exist ITTL, and it'll also still air on a Disney network ITTL. What will change, is that it will air the entirety of its run on Toon Disney/Disney XD ITTL.

El Tigre will also still exist, and it'll also still air on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons ITTL, but Boomerang will rerun it ITTL.

SpongeBob SquarePants will still have 9 seasons, and still air on Nickelodeon despite Viacom's buyout of Disney and Warner Bros. ITTL.

The Penguins of Madagascar began airing on Nickelodeon in 2009 IOTL. But ITTL, the show will instead air on Cartoon Network.

The Mighty B! and Making Fiends will still exist ITTL, but the difference is that they're on Nicktoons and Nickelodeon, respectively ITTL.

Adventure Time, Regular Show & Steven Universe will also still exist, and they'll still be on Cartoon Network, despite the buyout ITTL.

In 2010, Ben Jones created an Adult Swim pilot entitled "Neon Knome" IOTL. The pilot later spun-off The Problem Solverz IOTL. ITTL, The Problem Solverz will still exist, and it'll still air on Cartoon Network. What will change ITTL, however, is that the "Neon Knome" pilot will later spin-off a similar show for Nick@Nite, also titled "Neon Knome".

And speaking of Adult Swim, Rick and Morty will still exist, but it'll air on Nick@Nite ITTL.

In 2007, Disney Channel introduced a sitcom about a wizard family IOTL. That sitcom? "Wizards of Waverly Place". Wizards of Waverly Place will still exist, but it'll be delayed to February 2009 and become a Disney XD original series ITTL.

In 2012, Disney Channel introduced an animated series by the name of "Gravity Falls" IOTL. It'll still exist, but it'll spend the entirety of its run as a Disney XD original IOTL.

That's only some of the effects of Viacom's buyout of Disney and Warner Bros. IOTL. More will be revealed in the next update.

Will W.I.T.C.H. get a third season? I'd love to see it paired up with Avatar in an action block.

W.I.T.C.H. would not get a third season on Disney Channel ITTL. It would instead move to The CW on Sundays at noon ITTL.

More effects of the buyout of Disney and Warner Bros. by Viacom ITTL will be revealed in the next update.

.
1. *Ahem*,
2. Will other classic Cartoon Network shows (Ed, Edd,'n' Eddy, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, etc) also air reruns on Nicktoons?
3. Is Rick and Morty the same?

1. I was referring to post-February 2007 video productions when I said they wouldn't have any crossovers;
2. ITTL, yes
3. Despite the show airing on Nick@Nite ITTL, yes.

IOTL, you've probably heard of three different television series labeled The Twilight Zone: TTZ 1959, TTZ 1985, and TTZ 2002. ITTL, TTZ 2002 will be rerun on The CW rather than MyNetworkTV.

More effects of the Viacom buyout of Disney and Warner Bros. ITTL will be revealed in the next update.

Speaking of Wizards of Waverly Place, IIRC, Justin was originally going to be Alex's friend, instead of her brother. Do they stick with that ITTL?

Does Selena Gomez still get cast as the lead in Wizards? (Originally, the wizarding family was Irish, but they changed it when Gomez was cast.)

And yes, Selena Gomez will still be cast as the lead in Wizards Of Waverly Place ITTL.

Bumping this, So Redstone in a flash of genius and insanity got both companies before one start to decline and other become a titan? with the impact of sales,, when marvel is reacheable, Starwas is out of the picture...but depend of the butterflies.

So the TL just died? well a shame still would have been interesting as was during disney dark age and Nick mega meteoric rise...at least we would get good nicktoons of all of it.
