Nicholas II in Russia

As I write this, I am watching the classic movie 'Nicholas and Alexandra.'
As history notes, Nicholas II disastrously took command of his armies when they were in defeat and with the nation collapsing around him: however, he was urged to stay behind in St. Petersburg. We know the result of his decision, but what if he had stayed to head the government? Do you think there would be any difference if he was there, instead of the Czarina?

Not really. Nicholas was a very, very incompetent ruler. So long as the Tsarina is enthralled by Rasputin, he'll still be mucking about. There really is no way to save the Romanov dynasty by this point.

And while I enjoyed Nicholas and Alexandra as a movie, don't give it too much credit--they oversympathize the Romanovs waaaaay too much. There's no mention, for example, of how Nicholas gave those responsible for Bloody Sunday medals for what they did.
