NFL Draft "What If's"

With the NFL Draft only a week away, I figured that I would put up some "what if's" about the NFL Draft:

1. What if the Bears won the coin flip with the Steelers back in 1970 and selected Bradshaw?

2. What if the Colts took Ryan Leaf in 1998 ahead of Peyton Manning?

3. What if the Texans took Reggie Bush in 06 instead of Mario Williams?

4. What if the Steelers would have taken Dan Marino in 1983?

5. What if the Seahawks would have taken Brett Favre in the first round in 1991(their Head Coach, Chuck Knox, was pushing real hard for him, but lost out to the owner and GM)?

Not to take away from Bradshaw, but he was lucky to have a great team around him, including a really solid offensive line (which didn't get much attention, what with the Steel Curtain, Franco Harris, etc.). On the pre-Walter-Payton Bears, he might have gone through the same ordeal that Archie Manning, Jim Plunkett, Dan Pastorini and other good young QBs went through trying to carry a weak team and getting clobbered every week. Think of some of his silly interceptions that weren't ruinous because the Steelers' defense got the ball right back. Wouldn't have been the case in Chicago.

In the mid-70s I was a paper boy with a Sports Illustrated subscription. I can also cite "Gilligan's Island", chapter and verse. Ah, America!

Fireworks!
