I will be wrapping up Young Guns within a couple of weeks, and in December a new project is due to start. There are 3 possibilities.

A Land of Milk and Honey: A less tempestuous LBJ presidency where Johnson wins a second term. New Dealism gets a slightly longer lease on life. POD November 30, 1963.

Margin of Safety: An improved version of BG and I's joint TL from last year. Thatcher survives the 2nd ballot on 22/11/90. Some elements of TEB will persist, but in much less detail since the focus will be Anglo-American-Canadian.

The End of the Beginning: Rajiv Gandhi not assassinated in 1991, returns to power at the head of a Congress majority government 18 months after losing the 1989 election. India-US centric.

He would die rather soon after the beginning of the second term.
What? LBJ died in '73. His second term would be from January 20, 1969 to January 20, 1973. (Just two days before his death IOTL.)

In fact, LBJ will likely live longer without the stress and torment of a presidency riddled with the amount of chaos arising from the Civil Rights Movement and Vietnam.

As long as there isn't some tail-end Reagan wank where the Conservatives still manage to rise like they did in the OTL (if not more)*, I vote "A Land of Milk and Honey".

*I'm watchin' you, 'beav ;)

That, and LBJ went full throttle into drinking and smoking when he left office.

Judging by that long hair he had post-presidency, I think we maybe should ask what he went full-throttle into smoking ;)

No, but seriously, who'd pass up the opportunity to get high with retired LBJ?

A Land of Milk and Honey definitely. Bonus points if you have LBJ grow his hair out in the TL like he did after he left office :D

The End of the Beginning, since we don't get enough India TLs on this site.

ALOMAH is interesting, too.

I would like to see the Indian option as well. Or failing that, some sort of Canadian focused TL - as I think we have plenty of Americans or Brits working on contemporary timelines

Actually, I am leaning more towards the Indian option at the moment, but popular demand seems to favour ALMH. ALMH is ready right now for launch. MoS needs some tweaking but is essentially ready. TEB requires more research, which isn't easy.

More info on each...

ALMH: It only goes up to 1988, 25 years after the POD, and there's a reason why.

MoS: Until the present day.

For those in the know: yes, Maneka will be playing an unpleasant role in TEB... plenty of opportunities to create dynastic mischief in the Nehru-Gandhi clan. I'll also be trying to get angles from party bureaucrats, the younger people in the PMO at 1 Safjundghar Road, corporate sector, Cabinet ministers, etc. It really is "the economy stupid". But reading about Rajiv's premiership gives you a sense of his flaws and qualities... and the problems are relatively easy to fix. This TL goes until the present day.

Land of milk and honey... conditional so long as it doesn't delay our joint "Monica's baby; the fall of Bill Clinton" project

Looks like popular demand is for ALMH. Some of you might be vaguely creeped out by the prologue- just a warning. Not so much violent as plain surreality... And I have the prologue for TEB as well. I'll start with the OTL bombing and walk it back to the ATL suicide bombing, just as a contrast.

Don't guess on the surreal ALMH prologue, chances are it'll be wrong. :p

Do MoS. I've never heard of Rajiv Ghandi and 60s/70s American political timelines don't really appeal to me, especially LBJ ones. I like the idea of Thatcher in the 1990s. I vote for Iron Lady.
