Newspapers and Headlines Collaborative TL: 1836 Edition!

So, inspired by this thread, I made this. As I posted beforehand:

The purpose of this thread is to create a world from newspaper, blog, and article headlines. I will post a starter headline, and further posters may respond to it with another headline, or make up their own headline, as long as it fits in with the world created so far. This TL will progress much slower than current TL's. Try to keep the time distances between articles measured in days, rather than months or years.

RULES:
1. Keep it realistic, or at least logical and sensible.
2. Don't contradict.
3. Since everyone loves politics, I have a special way for us to determine elections.
4. POD is 1st January 1836 (since I'm a Victoria 2 fan).

Tsar calls for support from the people.

Tsar Alexanderhas called to the people of Russia to support him against the reactionary forces of the armed forces who declared a coup on Saturady (2nd January) night. The Tsar issued the call from St Petersburg after putting down a palace revolt in the Winter Palace. The army however still holds power in large parts of the Empire, including Moscow.

Am I doing this right?

Madison is No More!

This great and estimable man is no more ! 'The Sage of Mouticcllo is gone!' On the morning of Wednesday, the 6th of January, Madison died aged eighty four years. He had been born on the 16th of March 1751. According to his friends, the end had been in sight for many days. His facilities remained keen until hours before his death. He expired without struggle, free from pain and suffering, a righteous death for such a great man.

Officials appropriately note that, "The last great light of the Revolution has been extinguished." For America, Madison had been like a great pillar of fire, illuminating the passage thro' many trials like the Jews to Israel. He gave his country repose, happiness, security and stable government. Indeed, the beautiful and benign light has sunk behind the horizen, forever lost to the world. Glorious has been its course.

President Jackson has issued the usual orders to the Army and Navy, which are observed in commemoration of such great and good men; and has also officially communicated the same information to Congress. Mr. Adams in the house delivered an eloquent speech on the subject. Few who heard were not affected by it; down the cheek of more than one gentleman was a tear seen.

President Jackson, along with several members of the Congress have also made known their intentions to be present at the burial.

Death at a Funeral

A great tragedy has befallen the nation! On the day which was meant to be a reflection on the achievements of the late President Madison, shots were fired at Montepelier. According to those present, during the eulogy a possessed woman appraoched the mourners with a gun and fired wildly into the crowd. The fiendish woman attempted to flee immediately after seeing one of her targets fall but was hindered by the elderly Dolly Madison who threw herself upon the assassin and a bloody struggle commenced. Officials quickly apprehended the assassin, who proceeded to scream curses and mad ravings.

Andrew Jackson was quickly rushed from the scene and his status remains unknown at this time. The country prays for his health. Also, in the midst of the chaos, the corpse of former President John Quincy Adams was recovered, bloody and mangled. Many tears will be shed for the death of yet another great man...
