France:
The Pact of Steel between Germany, Italy, Poland and Hungary, and the advance of fascism in Spain posed a tread to the French Council Republic. Germany, Hungary and Italy openly opposed the status-quot on the Balkans and in Eastern Europe. Italy's policy of the Mare Nostrum and Mussolini's dream of rebuilding the Roman Empire as his Italian Empire threatened nearly all of France Mediterranean holdings. What was worse that their influence on the Balkan and maybe even Turkey could manage to hold the Soviet Union out of the Mediterranean and thereby out of help for France. Since the French-British-Split the tensions between France and Britain had also increased. The wish to finally annex the Sudan and Egypt, or to even connect these territories with Syria or regain long lost Claims in India was rising in some political heads, together with the dream of a socialist Revolution that would free all former Colonies of France enemies as communist Nations. But Italy the fascistic heartland wasn't the main concern for France and the Soviet Union. The German rearming and annexations in middle and eastern Europa made it clear that Hitler couldn't be trusted and that he was very dangerous, much like Mussolini and the Leaders of Poland and Hungary. The French Council Republic, concerned of the German claims of Alsace-Lorraine even with the Maginot Line feared that the Germans would once again advance trough the neutral Belgium, so they expanded the boarder defense. Unknown to Great Britain and even Germany, the french planned to invade Belgium, so they could avoid the Westwall (Siegfried Line) and directly attack the Rhénanie (Rheinland) the industrial Center of Nazi Germany. The plan was called Operation Confédération du Rhin (Confederation of the Rhine) and sometimes even interlude the invasion of Belgium and the Netherlands, to annex both states as well as the Rhine boarder if possible. Soviet troops had the order to execute Operation October, in with the former territories of the Russian Empire (Finland, the Baltic States, Poland, Romania and even the new Hungarian boarders) should be attacked and annexed for the Comintern pact. Germans Plans involved Operation Kaiserwetter (the invasion and defense of the Scandinavia peninsula against Communism) Operation Blücher (the invasion of Communist France through the Netherlands and Belgium, together with attacks on the french boarders of Italy and Spain), Operation Franz-Ferdinand (the protection and control of the Balkan Peninsula) and Operation Barbarossa (the direct war of the Axis Powers against the Soviet Union in Eastern Europe). At the Moment the Pact of Steel was not in the Position to execute them all at once, against such strong enemies, but the fascist block waited for a good opportunity, just like the Comintern did.
