New World Polis

Hello!.
I am going to propose a new challenge. I would like to pursue new polis, cities that manage to survive as independent states today. By that I mean city-states like Singapore. I would like it to be as realistic as possible. If you can get to Trieste or Dantzig survive as independent cities to this day better, but it would not be a new idea.

Cantonal Revolution. It happened during the 1 st Spanish Republic and was particularly important in the city of Cartagena in Murcia. The ideals of this revolution were based on a refusal to Republican unitarism, as well as the wars that were kept outside. For six long months of siege, the city of Cartagena came even to print its own money.

I don´t know... could have the city of Cartagena had a chance of survival?

New York City leaves the U.S. during/after the U.S. Civil war following a confederate victory, or when such an occurrence seems imminent.

The Mayan city-state of Tayasal managed to survive Spanish conquest until 1697. I imagine there's a way we could get it to survive until the present.

Cities in India like Goa and Pondicherry that were colonies of European powers might also be candidates for independent city-states rather than being absorbed into India.

Guantanamo Bay: A commercial harbor grows alongside, but not on, the
U.S. Naval base. When Castro takes power, it is able to retain its de facto independence with political maneuvering by the U.S., but is never actually considered U.S. territory. In tourist literature, it becomes known as the Hong Kong or Singapore of the Caribbean.
