new UCS discussion

because france doesnt have as many different colonial successors. colonial successors indicate that the successor is still mostly french as opposed to one that used to be ruled by france; ivory coast may SPEAK french, buts its not CULTURALLY french

They just need colors for their own country, maybe one for their overseas empire, one for protectorates (Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania), one for vassal states(Same as previous? This would go for in Indochina and for native American allies), one for mandates, and perhaps a color to show areas they are merely temporarily occupying or are jointly administered. Oh, and there is the French Cold War camp which included Cote' dIvori, Chad, Central African Empire, Gabon, Adagascar, Saar the like.

i was planning to include colors for several tribes, with notes saying they could be used for other tribes aside from the ones specifically mentioned. the ones i had in mind were the apache, iroquois, sioux, inca, and aztecs/mayans, as well as another color specifically mentioned for "other tribes"

i was also thinking of making some for specific african colors as well. in addition to ones tthat we've seen more often like Carthage/Tunisia and Egypt, i was also thinking of including zulu, ghana/mali/songhai (since those countries were pretty similar historically and were all in the same general region), Abyssinia/Ethiopia, "East Africa" (for such tribes as the Maasai) and, of course, one for tribes that arent mentioned otherwise

im thinking of maybe trying this out again. i was thinking of using a much simpler table for the color scheme in which i make a table on microsoft word then print-screen it into photoshop, adding colors there.

that said, what general "categories" (ie, "British Isles" "China" "Russia & Other Slavs") would you all suggest for this, and what entries for each one?

I tried to make a "quadrant scheme" some time ago, I guess it's buried somewhere in my hard drive. IIRC I made a "Mediterranean Quadrant" including the Arab Nations as well as historically Rome and Byzantium, a "Continental Sector" (France, Germany and historical antecedents i.e. Saxony) a "Russian-East Europe Quadrant", a "Far Eastern Quadrant", North and South America (including independent Texas, California and Quebec). I'll post it as soon as I find it.

Here is a sample. The scheme obviously is just a proposal and oper for any change.

Quadrant one: the Anglosphere
