New sponsors for Columbus

Under the auspices of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand V of Spain, Christopher Columbus completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean.
Columbus' contract with the Spanish rulers promised that he could keep 10 percent of whatever riches he found, along with a noble title, and the governorship of any lands he should encounter.
If Ferdinand and Isabella had not granted funds to him, who would have sponsored the voyages of Columbus?

No one?

The fact of the matter is that Columbus was trying to reach Asia, not the Americas, and his numbers were WAY off. Moreover, any country with any kind of maritime tradition at all KNEW his numbers were wrong. The only monarchs ignorant enough of geography were the Spanish ones.

The Danes? Portugal and Spain had already refused and according to my first grade teacher, he was on a donkey to France when the Spanish ranback to him on a horse and accepted his offer. If France refused, he would probably give up then.
