New Spain survives

What if the Mexican War for Independence failed and New Spain survived? Would they survive long term? How would this affect the United States. Thanks guys.

Depends on what sort of agreement the government in Spain reached with the people who organized the revolt. If it's satisfactory then the new arraignment could last a while. If it's a matter of brutal suppression, then a few decades at the most.

the war really messed up the country. Put it down earlier/with less damage, and combine that with some moderate reforms, and you have the start of some stability. Tough row to hoe, but not ASB. Hard to say how things progress. Independence is a given, whether it is full blown USA style or de facto Canada style. Who knows how long that takes to get there.

Or, more likely, since Spain and her colonies weren't known for productive gov't in that era, the whole thing becomes a mess.

In the case of the former, the US has a continental rival. Mex-Am War is butterflied. Texas remains in NS. NS has the best claim on US northwest, but also not much ability to make good on it.
