New Planetocopia Planet: Capsica

There's at least one photo of him at work on his page about the physical construction of the Lyr model, and I believe I recall mentions of a wife and kids.

So, yes, we may be sure.

The whole furry thing's kinda grating sure but rest is excellent, well researched if a touch idealistic.

Yeah, the furry/loads of intelligent species thing makes me avoid those sections entirely. It smacks of wish fulfillment. Doesn't mean everything else is brilliant, though.

He has weird stuff when it comes to living things but his geography is par excellence. As good (or even better) then what we have here on AH.com.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, but has Wayan ever explained WHY it seems that virtually every non-avian winged species has wings on their backs, other than his 'wings=intelligence' mantra? Considering that bird wings (which they most often resemble) are analogous to arms, this would somehow imply their ancestors once had arms on the middle of their backs?

I think it's really because Wayan just likes the idea and keeps coming back to it. I think it can be somewhat justified in that many of his worlds Sexapedial beings became dominant, and my guess is that the middle limbs (or whatever became the wings) shoulder and arm bones just shrunk until they became vestigial structures while the forearm just shifted position to be closer to spine and point further out from the body.

Because he seems to have a poor grasp of biology, that's largely the result of his strange worldview.

I kind of wish he'd done this one by pushing the Earth closer to the Sun and seeing what happens rather than making it an alien world, I think it's more interesting when you can see what happens to familiar places in different circumstances.

YEah, the TILT! series was awesome, I'd wish he'd do more of them.

Yeah, alternate geography with no nations on it is kinda just creates a reaction of "Oh, that's cool I guess." Even in nerds like us AH.commers.

But in the end, the answer for "what would that world be like" would still come down to "naked fox-women with wings."

The only constant in life ;)

When I first read the Planetocopia scenarios, I had assumed he just only had the one piece of artwork of alien life and just fudged the biome analyses so it always came out that way...

So far his red-plants idea has stopped him from doing that to this scenario. The pictures wouldn't match at all.

The other new project, Libratia ("irregularly" orbiting a red dwarf), anyone? Seems nicer.
The masterpiece obviously remains Lyr, the gentle giant. Very idealistic, but the product of a genial creative mind.
