"Create the most original or insane something-punk subgenre yet"-punk

In this world people who post in this thread are the majority of the population, and they create worlds that fall into the standard "punk" genre and get applause for it. One poster, mmmeee0, decides that conformity just isn't enough for him anymore, and decides to fight the power by creating a genre of punk that is so original and insane that he can break the system from within itself. Some are going to fight him, some are going to like him, but all will know his name as he begins a rebellion against the conformity of all these creative punks by tossing out an idea that turns the punk world on its head.

Coming in 2013...

Japan, 1580 -- this happens. As a result, Oda Nobunaga survives to establish a shogunate, Japan is brought to the brink of the industrial revolution circa 1600 -- and Korea picks it up, becoming the great industrial power in the region (while Japan tries to keep up).

The late 17th and early 18th Centuries sees East Asian nations develop roughly Victorian level technology, but with notable cultural differences -- warfare is noticeable unique. Japan and Korea become "colonial" powers, while the Ming hold together.

I call it: Oda-Punk

Tetris-Punk!

The year is 2020. After a devastating nuclear war thirty years ago, humanity is confined to the relatively untouched lands of Africa, where one solitary version of Tetris was downloaded onto a surviving computer in downtown Nairobi. When is discovered by a team of archeologists, Kenya takes the geometric shapes and interlocking shapes seriously. New towns are made from identical blocks laid out in identical patterns. Each house is defined only by a number or colour.

By 2050, Kenya has used the efficiency of Tetris to conquer and annex it's neighbours, catapulting it into superpower status. Education and commerce boom. Australia looks into Space Invader fighter jets.

I've been trying to figure out the proper -punk for Scott Pilgrim v.s. The World. Would "Arcade-punk" make sense?

Geo-thermal Punk - Ever things runs on the energy of the Earth!

I had an idea for a story some time ago that would fit into this genre. The idea was that a period of increased tectonic and volcanic activity renders the surface of the Earth all but uninhabitable. Scientists manage to see the disaster coming, and advise the governments of the coming hell. It is decided that preventing the disaster is all but impossible, so they work on saving as many people as they can by building vast, self-sufficient bases underground for them to live in. The bases are entirely closed off from the surface and the only thing that goes into this closed system is energy from geo-thermal power stations.

As the system is almost entirely closed off it is very delicate; over- or under-population could mean disaster, as could gluttony or an outbreak of disease. As a result the governments of these bases have very high levels of control over the population, going as far as to track their movements with microchips implanted in their bodies shortly after birth. These microchips also act as proof of identity, and is also connected to a central computer system which tracks citizens' daily ration use, and prevents them from using too much water, owning too much food, travelling too far on the internal tram systems, taking too much time off, etc. etc.

Due to the heavily controlled lifestyle that is mandatory in this situation, the central government had to set up a centralised, psychological/psychiatric agency to prevent the population from going insane. This agency has ultimate control over many aspects of the government, as any government action may have significant influence on people's mental state. This does mean that when the people are annoyed with the current government the agency can force a general election, or even a change of policy in an entire political party, in order to prevent mass insanity.

If you've ever played Dwarf Fortress then you probably understand the principle of a "tantrum spiral", where one person going insane can set off a series of events leading to the downfall of an entire settlement. The situation here is similar, though I actually thought of it well before I found out about Dwarf Fortress.

Those are so some cool ideas, I had a similar idea like this.

Here's my idea, Just before the World is hit by a big asteroid the nations of Earth start digging underground to start a underground civilizations to escape the asteroids impact. The whole atmosphere is turned into deadly gas and the surface is still inflamed. The human race is saved but is left to the under surface of what they would call Hell. A vast tunnel system begins to develop to intersect other settlements of other nations. Tunnels span the crust of Earth a hundred years later. Some would call it a Apocalypse, but culture, research, science, medicine all advanced while underground thanks to there pre-impact ancestors. Agriculture surprisingly was still used thanks to advance heat lamps that run on Geo Thermal energy. In massive artificial corridors. But like all things of the past war still came. Occasionally fighting would take place between nations over ownership of the main tunnel highways or railways. (I guess you would call it subways)
around 250 years after impact the first advance drills reached the Earth's mantle.
But the question still remains, what of the surface? Have are leaders been hiding something?

That's all I'm saying!

Here's a little timeline

2036 AD --"99942 Apophis" hits the planet Earth causing mass destruction leaving the humans with the only choice to go underground.

1 AI -- Starting of the first tunnels begin.

100 AI -- Tunnels now reach all over the Earth's crust.

250 AI -- The first Drills reach the Earth's mantle.( They got to have some pretty nice drills to do this, wow.)

In a world full of secret British spies you're a beautiful woman tasked with saving the world from the consequences of this single roguish agent. His actions are the match on the powder keg, and anymore dangerous stunts he pulls could not only cause World War 3 but 4 and 5 as well. Armed with only a tube of lipstick that also acts as a sedative, a locket that's also a phone, high-heels that are concealed knives and a pair of panties that can't be "Bonded" in you've got only one chance to seduce and capture him for Her Majesties Government. Make it count Double Oh Sex, we're all counting on you to save us from James Fucking Bond.

Ooh, I wanna play!

Vietnampunk--In a world where the Cold War heated up, and the major power blocs were utterly destroyed, one unlikely hero has arisen from Indochina's ruins to fight on against the capitalist menace.

*Wicked guitar solo*

Ho Chi Minh Rising--coming soon to a theater near you.

Or:

Alexanderpunk: In a world where Alexander the Great survived and engineered a successful industrial revolution, one man must race against the waterclock to find and defuse the Indian Bloc's greatest weapon (known as Zeus' Lightning) before it wipes out 70 million Alexandrians. Togas abound. Leonardo di Caprio stars as Hero of Alexandria.

OR:

Mudpunk: In a world where the Ancient Egyptians industrialized using mudbrick-based technologies, a down-on-his-luck Theban mudworker meets the girl of his dreams, with a twist: it turns out that she's a sentient mudbot escaped from the Pharoah, and she needs his help! Matthew Mcconoughay stars in Under the Theban Sun, a romantic comedy bound to rock your world! In theaters September 2011.

Nobelpunk: It's found that scientific theories become true only once the discoverer is awarded a Nobel prize. The plot centers on the intrigue surrounding the newly near-omnipotent Nobel committees. Alternatively: project Orion but with dynamite.

Flevopunk: In 1950 or so, a brilliant Dutch scientist invents a land reclamation device suitable for personal use. Soon after, the world's oceans are dotted with city-states surrounded by dikes.

Gyverpunk: Steam engines built out of common household items. Features Gyvernetic Organisms or Gyvorgs.

Surrealismpunk: Everyone lives in giant bisected white balls floating in the sky. They also invented floppy materials to make clocks out of. Etc.

Sounds nice, but the IRL Apophis couldn't really do all that........could it?{Didn't think so. :p}

LOL. :D

I always wondered how MacGyver-esque tech would work out........... :D

Here's some more:

Moonpunk: In the year 1982, as a part of projects begun by the surviving President Kennedy, the very first Helium-3 mining ship, the U.S.S. Junker, landed on the far side of the moon and mined the first load of helium-3, to be used in a series of experimental fusion reactors. The experiments were fantastically successful. Today, the American government has a monopoly on the mining of the infinite energy that is helium-3: Soviet attempts to get in on the good stuff led to a surprise American nuclear attack on Moscow and Petrograd, and subsequently World War 3. Now, the world is more split than ever between "haves" and "have-nots", the haves being those who sided with the US during WWIII, and were rewarded for it by helium-3 and American assistance in building massive, nuclear-proof dome-cities, and the have-nots being those poor, militarized, and angry remaining Communist nations. However, even among the haves, time is running out: several helium-3 mines have come up empty lately, and American scientists fear that they will soon all run out. The American government and their allies have kept a tight lid on this, of course: but in the ruins of Old New York, one brave team of Yugoslavians searches for the truth, in an attempt to free the world from the American dictatorship. Will they succeed?

(Yay, dystopia!)

Genepunk: With oil running out and the nations of the world desperate for another option, the late Dr. McNamara, an esteemed geneticist, created the world's first SuperCorn, engineered entirely to produce ethanol. Many other scientists followed his example, and the world soon had an ample supply of supply of both food and biological fuels. But the geneticists' creations had a dark side. Soon, certain amoral geneticists were on the payroll of such hermetic nations as Iran, Burma, and North Korea: new, powerful, and nigh-undefeatable biological weapons and gengineered killing machines (known as bioconstructs) were created, and now, the so-called "Modern Axis" holds the world at ransom with their new power, after first devastating North America with their diseases and killing machines. But in South America, a team of Brazilian geneticists works round the clock to create a new genetic superweapon to reconquer this fallen world, while in destroyed America, a group of doctors hunt for the "perfect cure", an American-synthesized chemical rumoured to able to counter all of the disease created by the Modern Axis.

Anony-punk.
