What is this?

A TL i've decided to write. It will involve an alternate Console Wars, in which four companies battle it out for the gold. Apple Bandai, Nintendo, Sega, and Sony. Later on the butterflies will effect the rest of popular culture, and the fantasy genre especially.

... so, you're going to make the Apple Bandai Pippin not suck? ASB, I say!

If a thousand threads on Sealion aren't in ASB, saving the Pippin isn't either.

No, the Pippin being good is even less likely than Sealion.

Probably, but I will accomplish it.

When are you gonna start this then?

Later today i'll probably post an update, maybe two. It'll be updated pretty frequently, though.

Well, good luck. We're gonna need it.

Good luck to you too, handsome.

How to make it sucessful..i have not found tech specs so can compared but pretty simple....put it an affordable prince, PS1 is same year and this 300 bucks, is that or die

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Bandai_Pippin

The rest...write a check to square, enix or konami and fight exclusives...maybe here pippin is never released M2 instead otl console?

Lowering the price was something I had in mind, actually. A lowered price + more than a half hearted effort on the part of Apple = a successful Pippin.

Yeah and making and winning exclusives, game that are the killer app, is alway the responsability of the first party make that killer app, so that is needed too.

300$ bucks and good support for developers is the key.

So waiting how will unfold.

Seems promising but to be honest Apple almost certainly didn't have the management bandwidth or interest in doing a gaming console (the Pippen being very much not planned as a gaming console, and left to Bandai anyway) and also Apple was in pretty bad shape as regards money as well. Oh, and they kept changing CEOs in that time period, including the one you have to avoid if you want the Apple Pippen not to be cancelled in 1997 (games + a Mac OS license? Newton level nuking, he was not a fan). My best solution for you is to have a much better partner than Bandai; fixing Apple is much much tougher.

That said, I am always interested in video game timelines and there's been very little about the Pippen, 'tis an underexplored section. So I am quite intrigued :).
