Neither Kennedy or Nixon in 1960

What if neither JFK or Richard Nixon in 1960? Perhaps as in the ast two threads I started, Nixon decides 1960 just is not the time for him to run for president and Kennedy loses the 1960 Democratic nomination? Who do the Democrats and Republicans nominate instead? Do either JFK or Nixon become president later on? How does this change history?

Agreeing with Cook in the other thread that you're going to need a better reason for Nixon not to run, but given that, Rockefeller would be my guess.

Also agree with JoeMulk that Humphrey would be the alternative to JFK.

So Rockefeller v Humphrey in 1960 -- interesting race...

LBJ would be Humphrey's runningmate. OTL he didn't even enter until the convention and I suppose that he could have ITL also.

Rocky probably wins narrowly. No Catholic on the ticket prevents the Dems from winning New Mexico, Humphrey doesn't do as well in Nevada either and the northeast goes to Rockeffeler/Lodge.

Johnson won't be enough to win Humphrey, whose record is unambiguous on civil rights, the South.
