Neandertals Survive!

What if Neandertals somehow were never wiped out completely, and today were a species of intelligent beans on this planet regulated to Europe (their natural area).

it would be wiped out anyway, since the rest of the world will outproduce Europe in any day of the week except Sunday.

and today were a species of intelligent beans

Ermmm I'm not sure how they're going to turn into beans

Seriously though I'm not quite sure how they would survive, I'm no expert on evolution but I'm pretty sure we replaced them OTL because they simply could not compete with us so unless something drastic happens seperating Neanderthal's from Homo Sapiens for a long time I don't see this happening.

They would most likely be wiped from extinction. I mean, the simple fact that
A. We would outnumber them in manpower significantly.
B. Many religions would not accept it. War against them till extinction will be done sooner or later.
C. Speciesism- Bound to happen. Human nature.

Maybe if they were somehow able to migrate to america during an ice age or even greenland or Iceland, they would be able to Isolate themselves.

There was a humanoid species in Indonesia that isolated themselves and they were able yo last much longer, some of the locals on isolated indonesian islands even claim that their ancestors killed these other humanoid just a couple hundred years ago.

i think mosh might be a borrower. BOOM! vague literary/film reference! :D

in all seriousness, though, there was another thread which focused on this very subject;the title was "Homo hedrensis" iirc

What I thought was that instead of the Neandertals dying out because of climate change, they are able to adapt and isolate themselves in Europe, while Homo Sapiens are therefore stuck in Africa. What would happen?
And i meant beings, not beans

I was under the impression Neanderthals died out because we drove them out of all the hunting grounds causing them to starve to death.

Still I'm not sure where in Europe would be isolated enough except maybe Britain but ultimately I think if they survived they'd be treated the same way OTL British treated the Aborigines in other words as scientific curiosities

i think the more accepted theory was a mix of climate change (huge factor), breeding out (relatively small factor), and interspecies violence (minor factor)

There is even some evidence that there were large amounts of interbreeding. But the major factor in their extinction was climate change.

Neanderthals need somewhere isolated until the climate settles down, if they're to survive.
With everything that was happening 40K years ago, they were too slow breeding, and too specialized to survive very well. Give them a few thousand years to handle the climate change and they might be able to handle the humans afterwards. But with both combined they were SOL.
They'd have to be in the British Isles, or an Ice free area of Northern Britain with a glacier between them and the rest of the continent.
Or in America.
