Nazis see themselves as the defenders of God

What if during the rise of Hitler, part of the message was "The Party and The Church". You have Hitler seeing himself as new Holy Roman Emperor.

When the war comes you have the Nazis fighting "In the name of God" They have that as a central theme of their propaganda. They make the Jews out to be the ones that have been forsaken by God.

How would that change the way people would see the Nazis during the 30s and the 40s if they went that route?

As well post war, POWs would remember, that in the camps, the Nazis would be saying that they were the ones chosen by God and the Allies were the ones trying to over throw God's choice. As well they could use in their propaganda, after they attacked the USSR that they were trying to restore the church to the Soviet people that were being denied that.

Would there be a larger separation between the church and state? How would this been seen in other parts of the world?

It wouln't be much of a stretch to have the nazis also adopt a partially Christian tone in their propaganda. Hitler doesn't necessarily have to believe it, just to find it useful. Here's a little something he said:

"By its decision to carry out the political and moral cleansing of our public life, the Government is creating and securing the conditions for a really deep and inner religious life. The advantages for the individual which may be derived from compromises with atheistic organizations do not compare in any way with the consequences which are visible in the destruction of our common religious and ethical values.

The Government will treat all other denominations with objective and impartial justice. It cannot, however, tolerate allowing membership of a certain denomination or of a certain race being used as a release from all common legal obligations, or as a blank cheque for unpunishable behavior, or for the toleration of crimes. [The national Government will allow and confirm to the Christian denominations the enjoyment of their due influence in schools and education.] And it will be concerned for the sincere cooperation between Church and State.
The struggle against the materialistic ideology and for the erection of a true people's community (Volksgemeinschaft) serves as much the interests of the German nation as of our Christian faith. ...The national Government, seeing in Christianity the unshakable foundation of the moral and ethical life of our people, attaches utmost importance to the cultivation and maintenance of the friendliest relations with the Holy See. ...The rights of the churches will not be curtailed; their position in relation to the State will not be changed"

Hitler was on the record saying that Christianity was Judeo-Bolshevik in character and that 'The Jews' began Communism after it started losing it's something or another. Hitler was also glad that his attempt to amalgrate the twenty something Protestant groups in Germany under one Reich Bishop had failed as he came to believe that said Bishop would ally with the Pope. Then again, one of the more racist church leaders in control ordered the name of god in Hebrew to be removed from all churches.
