Um, when it comes to the Tiergarten-Strasse Vier program and the Holocaust, ja, he really did know. He in fact was the one that authorized both and shut down the one to send its personnel to the other.

Are you seriously arguing Hitler wasn't aware of the true purpose of "being sent to the East" or earlier T4 programme?

Are you implying Hitler didn't know the details of the Final Solution?

..guys. Calm down. I think he was just asking if there was a chance Hitler didn't know about the use of chemical agents. Not that he didn't know about the killings, just the chemical weapons.

I'm quite calm, I'm just noting that when it came to killing Jews and disabled people it's pretty clear that Hitler did know and did approve of it.

Again, I think the question is: did he know they were being killed by gassing? (I'm pretty sure he did, but I'm not certain.)

Darn right he knew they were being killed. I don't think that was being disputed.

Given he sent Himmler IIRC to see how that gassing worked, um, yes.

I heard on this site a while back, that the german supply chain was heavily dependant on horses, if they used gas attacks, the retaliation would decimate their supplies, as horse don't have gas masked.

IIRC...

...I saw pictures of horses in military use with gas masks on.

The lethality of nerve gases diminishes with dispersion, but would cause severe injury well downwind (maybe 20 miles) of target areas. A tonne of a nerve gas was equal in its effects to hundreds of tonnes of chlorine or phosgene.

Bearing in mind that Germany accumulated thousands of tonnes of nerve gases, it is amazing that none was used in the gas chambers or on the battlefield. Zyklon B was probably cheaper.
