Nazi Britain...

My wife reckons there was a made-for-TV film set in Nazi Britain in the 1980s, after Germany won WW2 in 1942, possibly starring Robert Powell. I can't find any mention of it anywhere. Anyone got any ideas?

Apologies for posting to the wrong forum,

but thanks for the welcome. It's nice to see people as interested in Alternate history as I am.

As to It Happened Here, I'm sure that's not the one, though it's a terrific film (I saw a pretty shoddy quality VHS a few years ago). Mrs Pxyzyzygy is sure the film she's thinking of (and, sadly doesn't remember many details from), was both made and set in the 1980s.

Ah well. Back to The way It Wasn't...

I never saw it,

but I love the way IMDB has the plot synopsis starting " Fictional account of what might have happened if Hitler had won the war."

My first post.

pxyzyzygy, I actually remember that TV drama...screened about 1971 or so in GB.

The main character was Kenneth More I think, who was a TV producer in the England of the seventies after a nazi conquest.

Things had settled down, but the Jews had gone and life was grim in most of the country except for people like the More character who prospered under the Germans.

It was a very low key understated drama largely set in one building, and covered Mores slowly awakening realisation of what the regime was like. No Germans even were portrayed and it ended with an act of rebellion by More, and the Sipo hammering on his door.

Very depressing drama, aznd sad violin music playing in the background most of the time.

That is definitely the one that I referred to. Don't remember it going to three episodes and as I left England in 1972 it had to be earlier than 1978, but that's the one. (No teevee where I went to in Central Africa).

An Englishman's Castle,

apparently, is the one. Excellent stuff! Thank you very much. I'll try to stick to the right forums in future!
