Naval aircraft as Nightfighters

The Royal Navy had a bit of an early obsession with multiple seat fighter aircraft . Now when up against their single seat land based equivalents they struggled.

However as they were replaced by single.seat naval aircraft could they have found a second lease of life as nightfighters.

The second crew member now being an advantage as they switched to night time operations .

Could the Roc have found its niche alongside the Defiant in the night skies.

Looks like the admiralty were ahead of me.

FAIREY FULMAR

NF Mk.II
Mk.II night fighter with an Air Interception AI Mk. IV radar (1 aircraft) or AI Mk.X radar (other); 4 × .50 Browning AN/M2 – about 50 aircraft (other 8 × .303 Browning Mk.II), total was converted from the Mk.II nearly 100 aircraft.

The FAA also operated the single-seat Grumman F6F-5N as Hellcat NF.II, from May 1945. 891 & 892 squadron. Too late for the war. The Hellcats would have been able to catch bombers.
