Natives of Americas settle in Spain

What if from the 16th century on converted Natives and so called Mestizos on a larger scale move to the Iberian Penisula and ad to the Spanish population ?

I'm not sure such move would be that allowed by Habsburgs : their interest (or even their ideological mindset) would make them more about an ethnic stability and preventing too important migrations (assuming natives are able to pay for an important population crossing trough Atlantic, which is going to be hard.

It's not like there would be many natives around and even less willing to make the trip across to the Spanish metropole. Sure you could have a small community of mestizos present in Spanish ports (Lusitania had something similiar happen in his Portu-wank timeline) that eventually melds with the Euro population.

There were Africans in Lisbon, Seville and London. Probably, the Amerindians weren't a visible minority.

Why Spain would do that? Hardly Spain want take risk about more ethnic problems on its soil.

Firstly, is there an economic reason behind it? I don't think so.

Maybe if the religious orders think that the best way to convert Native Americans is to have Native American priests trained in Spain in order to be sent back to the Americas and spread the Gospel? It might have happened, but it would be too expensive and in any case it will not lead to a stable Native American or Mestizo minority in Spain

Well, Montezuma's descendants are part of the Spanish nobility

Yes, its not that common knowledge, though. Would be interesting, if they had been more prominent and influetual in Spanish history. Maybe some more Aztec and Aayan nobility converts in a rush before the Empire falls and become direct subsidates of the Spanish King.

This was OTL to an extent. The Inca nobility converted to Christianity to save their hides and maintain some degree of influence in the new order. The Inca-descended nobility was wiped out/disfranchised during Tupac Amaru's revolt.

what would they gain from immigrating to Spain?

There was already some immigration from Spain to the new world, and spain was pretty populated at the time so mass immigration there wouldn't be profitable or feasible

It wasn't unusual to knight caciques and important Mestizos. That's the lesser nobility, though.
