Is it possible to create a Native American nation in the 20th century?? I was thinking a TL with a Native American Holocoast, so the world gives them legitimacy.... Is this possible?? Where would this new nation be, and how would it operate. Communist or capitalist? Democracy or dictatorship? Are there Any other suggestions??

The Native Americans would never unite into one nation like Israel (on their own accord), since that appears to be your analogue. Rather than killing off a bunch of natives, I think you should increase their population until they make up a majority in some specific area of decent enough size to secede. Even then, without massive US government aid, that nation would be really poor.

Should I take it Bolivia doesn't count?

Edit: particularly not with the "20th century" part I suppose. Indie Greenland? probably not sustainable but also probably not what your looking for.

I kind of wonder if a mass genocide of the Native Americans might be just they thing they need to finally unite.

Though a secession could also work..

Cancel the plague that depopulated N America a couple of years before the first N American contact, and they might be numerous enough to survive the initial pathogen exchange. That might then give them teh numbers to fight to a draw.

Indeed. The Navarro expedition suggests how things might have gone without the plague/depopulation event.

Good point. I am wondering if the Navajo nation comes close. Interesting point there is the treaty with the Navajos excludes direct appicability of the US Constitution within the Navajo territories. My sister in law works as a attorney for the Navajo government & has found that little fact gives them more autononomy than the usual tribe/US relationship.
