Had Owain Glyndwr's rebellion against the English had been successful a "Teyrnas Cymru" (Kingdom of Wales) encompassing Wales and parts of Western and Central England.

What about:

-Palestine? (whether in Jordan, Israel, or both)
-Darfur?
-Greenland?
-A surviving GDR?
-A more evenly divided China?

For the benefit of AH-kind I would like to start up an effort to compile, for comprehensive purposes, a compendium of Nations, States/Provinces, Territories, etc that were close to being or had the real prospect of coming into being, but never were, or for nations, states/provinces, territories, etc that could have been different.

Different countries, not different governments for existing countries.

Western Sahara (if Morocco doesn't take it over when Spain leaves)

Kingdom of Hejaz (Sharif Hussein defeats ibn Saud)

People's Republic of Austria (USSR communizes its occupation zone. Did they ever consider it?)

Republic of Manchuria (not Manchukuo; Chang Tso-lin survives and holds out)

People's Republic of Sinkiang (USSR continues to back their satellite warlord there as a hedge; when the KMT defeats the CCP, Stalin has Sinkiang declare independence.)

No love for Biafra?

Or the USSR for some reason never going to the Caucasus and we'd not only have Georgia, the Azeri Republic and the DRA, but also the Mountainous Republic of the Northern Caucasus.
