National Interest in the Bosnian War

Reading a book about the Bosnian war in the 90's. Well, Carl Bildts book on the peace process (Uppdrag Fred), it struck me that I didn't get if players like France, Germany and UK had any goals beyond peace. Russia was somewhat more pro Serb and the US didn't want to bog down. But beyond that, any more goals.

Germany and Austria were pro-Croat (and pro-Slovene before that) while Turkey and Iran were pro-Bosniak. As for the French, according to one source I came across Mitterrand was more obstructionist while Chirac despised what the Serbs were doing and once snapped at Papandreou for trying to justify their position. If you want to take into account just those sympathies that had an effect.
