National Championship Stock Car Series(NCSSC)

This TL is a spinoff on my No American League.https://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=207593

In OTL Bill France form the National Championship Stock Car Series(NCSSC) early 1947. Bill France approached the American Automobile Association(AAA) to obtaining financial backing but AAA declined support. But in this TL would give financial backing to the NCSSC. With the financial backing from AAA Bill France would not reorganized the NCSSC into NASCAR in 1948.

There are different between NCSSC of this TL there would only be 20 races not 40 because of AAA. With the financial backing form AAA the NCSSC would run an 200 mile at Indianapolis the day before the Indy 500. The 200 mile would last until after the 1955 season. Begin in 1948 Watkins Glen Grand Prix would sanction by AAA(OTL by SCCA). The Watkins Glen Grand Prix would held on the 4th of July weekend with two races the American Championship car race and a shorter NCSSC race. In 1950 a third twin weekend was added Darlington Raceway. With a series of high-profile fatal accidents in 1955 AAA ceased racing participation after 1955 season. United States Auto Club with taking over as the sanctioning body of American Championship car from AAA. USAC would end twin weekends with the NCSSC. Only at Watkins Glen both series would both still race the USAC on the 4th of july and NCSSC in mid-august. Stock cars would not return to Indianapolis until the 90's and American Championship car would never return to Darlington Raceway.

Unlike OTL the Indianapolis 500 would not by part the Formula One World Championship season. But Formula One would have there own race at Indianapolis in mid-September. Indianapolis would be home to the United States Grand Prix until 1960. After 1960 the United States Grand Prix would be moved the Watkins Glen.

With the ending AAA sanctioning American Championship car and sponsoring the NCSSC a new era being in American motorsports. The NCSSC and USAC met in Indianapolis in early 1956 to step up rules between the two sanctioning bodies. NCSSC would run four divisions the Grand National, Sportsmen, Convertible and Modified. The USAC would three divisions run Sprint Car, National Midget, and Championship Car. With no USAC Stock Car division the NCSSC would run many more races outside the south. The makeup of the 25 race schedule is 50% southeast 30% Midwest and 20% Northeast with races on dirt tracks, asphalt ovals and road courses. The USAC would also run races on dirt tracks, asphalt ovals and road courses but a short 15 race schedule.

The Daytona Beach Road Course was to the biggest race on the NCSSC schedule and one of the biggest on the USAC schedule(only Indianapolis and Watkins Glen were bigger) until 1959 with the opening of Daytona International Speedway. Daytona would become home to both NCSSC and USAC races. The USAC would move to the infield road course in 1962 because of high speeds. Atlanta International Raceway opened in 1960 and both the NCSSC and USAC.
