The Iron Shah
Nasser- e-Din was a little boy in Tehran when his father brought him news of the court. The mullahs were making the dynasty weak, what good had they brought Persia. Azerbaijan had been taken by the taken by the Russians, his father had not thought to Modernized because the Mullahs would probably have his head,he would bring Persia into the modern age no matter the cost even if he would have to kill every one of them with his bare hands. His opportune moment would in 1847 when his father died, he would make Persia strong again. His reign was a time of change for Persia it would assume a power not seen in a long time.

Nasser-e-din first began to modernize the military by opening the first army Academy ran by the British officers that trained the new recruits. His government had signed a 20 year alliance with Great Britain. Persia was now home to Christians lots of them. This was opposed by the Conservatives, and various religious leaders saying it was not Islamic. Nasser simply solved it by basically throwing them to the elephant, and saying” those who oppose will feel the wrath of my fist!”

In 1854 he had opened the first Western style Medicinal school in Tabriz, and connected Tehran with Tabriz by rail. His army is modern but still equipment deficient in some areas like guns. The elite units had British hardware but they still used old matchlocks will at least when the Afghan war began. The British had a problem with the local Afghan tribes, and they didn’t have the time or effort to subdue the Afghan tribes. His government agreed to take over Afghanistan to aid the British.

The Invasion started in April 4 1856,and the Shah’s forces disciplined ,and stronger than Afghanistan could throw at them. The siege of Herat cost a ton of lives but eventually Herat fell in 3 weeks ,and they began to march east until they hit Kabul they took the city in 2 weeks ,and captured the Emir Dost Muhammad Khan on October 10th of the same year.

The war ended when Kandahar fell on November 14 1856. The news brought the Shah into a ecstasy ,and Increased his popularity at home sky rocketed when the treaty of Kabul was signed ceding Afghanistan to Persia ,and drawing a line between the BEIC ,and Persia.

The Persian Government reformed to be more centralized, and more westernized , the old Islamic one was thrown out but not the people who could get along with the new system well. He opened the first factories, and reformed the currencies into the National Bank of Persia which started to print, and mint coins, and have control over monetary policy ,and a Minister. The Persian Empire was divided into several provinces runned by an appointed by the local assembly of people.

The people that were sent by the Qajar government to the west were demanding a constitution to be written down, and he relented, the Common Laws were written, they guaranteed freedoms of speech, assembly ,religion even for the Baha’i sect of religion. They also enshrined the Nasser reforms in it. However in it the Shah still commanded some power like the dismissal of ministers, and the Imperial Guard.

It divided Government into three branches the Judicial Branch, The Executive Branch was the Shah the legislative branch was led by the head Senator in a bicameral one like Prussia. This Constitution was good on paper, however the shah still held power, and lots of it.

In 1860 Persia had changed much from the beginning of his reign from rural farmland to people working in steel factories, and nobles riding the trains like their European counterparts. However dark clouds were on the horizons with Russia claiming central asia, however they were nervous about the English intervening into the future conflict, but decided to attack anyway because they thought the Persians would be same as the last time they had defeated the Persians in 1829. They would be in a world of hurt down there.

The Russo-Persian war of 1860 had been vastly underestimated by Russia sending 5000 men to discipline the riffraff of the Persians led by Sergei Alexandrovich Oyrol he was extremely incompetent to run the military operation they only brought three Artillery squads which comprised of fifty light calibered cannons ,and 4000 infantry ,and 500 cavalry, they were lost in the mountains of southern Uzbekistan trying to find an open spot to wage war ,and the army were harassed by Persian Guerrillas.

They were harassed until they hitted Nisa in Turkmenistan into a trap by Amir Khan Fars he was with 20,000 men armed with several new british rifles of the breechloading version of the Enfields. They met at the battle of Nisa it was a very hot day. The Russians were low on ammo ,and water. They were surrounded by several cavalrymen from the Hindu Kush always firing their guns while riding in circles around the flanks forcing them to bunch themselves up together.

That was his plan ,and then the Persian Infranty charged at the center causing the Russians to rout backwards ,and die getting lost in the desert ,and causing them to die. This battle caused the Russians to retreat back towards the safety of their front between the Amu Darya ,and Nisa.

The Russian Army was being backed up by reinforcements fifty miles away from their current locations. Amir knew if the Russian forces linked up they could easily crush his armies ,but if he could surround both of the armies he could defeat them. The final battle would take place at midnight while the Russians were taking rest in the desert. Midnight came and he was ready he snuck in several sleath units to take out the night guardsmen ,and trap them.

It went off pretty well that the Russians were caught unaware when 25 cannons were posted right outside the encampments . At dawn he had given a order to fire ,and the a bloodbath would ensue . Soldiers were not even dressed yet as Persian charges demoralized them, and made the Russians all die there. The Russian Government signed a peace treaty on April 27 1861 ceding all claims on Turkmenistan, and Southern Uzbekistan ,with Tajikistan also it was signed in Tehran.

The American Civil War kicked off a few weeks before in April 6 1861, it was a large conflict between the states, Persia like most other states in Europe stayed out of the war ,but Mexico did not pay its debts to France ,and England. Persia did not have any desire to use the treaty since it was purely defensive , and not for offensive war like the intervention in México ,the Qajar oligarchy was not crazy ,and not wishing for war, it raised textiles industries for anyone to work even women ,as poor rural folks of the former slaves of the landed class were going to the major cities of Tehran ,Tabriz ,and Isfahan, with the promise of money , new homes, and a new life. What they found was a hell women worked like little better than dogs 6 days a week with Friday for religious purposes.

Men ,and Children worked in heavy industry slaving away at the mills like , a oligarchy started to come in the government ,they were very corrupted in the fact that every labor bill was shot down. Labor unions were primitive, but trying to get the will of the people however they were shot by ex army soldiers who were paid twice as much, and who were unemployed, and were brutes. This system would go on until 1897, when he died. The American civil war was over by April 18 1865 when General Lee surrendered to Grant in Appomattox Courthouse.

The Confederate war effort was surprising to say the least to Behrooz Shapur Qadri the Persian Ambassador to the United States ,noted “ The Confederates acted like paupers trying to be emperors they think that they were the end all be all in cotton, The British can survive ,without cotton ,but they cannot survive without American grain.” That summed up the whole war. In 1864 Benito Juarez was killed trying to flee to the north, and the second Mexican Empire was able to consolidate power ,and the US was forced to send diplomats to it.

Your Industrialization is a little fast - and Benito Juarez spent most of the War in Arizona being guarded by Lincoln's Pinkerton's.

Other than that, I enjoyed a different Nation having a TL.

In 1896, the discovery of crude oil in Khuzestan by a diviner that was trying to get water for his village when he came upon a spot that was detecting water alleged he dug a hole for the water to come out ,when he saw a strange black liquid coming from the spot where the well was ,he thought that something strange was happening with the earth ,and called up the village elders to see what it was, then the village elders called the government to find out what the crap was going on ,they called down several men from the government went down there to see if they weren’t making up stories or anything , and what they found was a ton of oil ,biggest in Eurasia. He was shocked by the amount of oil in it .

His dreams of his village having a employment jobs education was crushed when the government decided it move them out of their area to build the various oil rigs ,and devices to extract the petrol ,after that fact the local Khuzestanis decided they were going to complain to the state government of Khuzestan but yet would not listen to them because of Iran’s new oil wealth in a few years ,and did not want a couple of random peasants fighting for they were there between them ,and wealth.

Getting nowhere with their complaints, they decided to get violent , grabbing whatever they could find ,they started to attack the construction sites ,just to chase them away , and hopefully they will be weakened by the fear of the angry peasants rising up however that didn’t work out they were shot with shotguns ,and rifles of a pinkertonesque company employed by big business to break up strikes ,and keep the working man down. This exacerbated tensions with the working class, and intellectuals who were educated in local universities ,and in foreign ones in Germany, and France which led to the Student Revolt of 1898.

The student revolt was semi failure ,it failed in the fact that the student’s demands in the government failed except two of them labor rights ,and more democratic government , the other ones which included the abolishment of property ,and nationalization of all industry ,plus a creation of a republic were shot down by the moderate faction of the students led by Mir Dagestani called themselves movement of the democrats . The other faction led by Raeyen Zare simply called themselves the Workers Party of Iran which was radical to say the least ,they were forced underground by the secret police the 3rd office of the Persian Empire.

They had been suppressed brutality ,but they had been forced underground ,they decided to wait ,and bide for time. The Iranian government was somewhere between the Kaiserreich of Germany ,and the parliament of Great Britain , it was autocratic , but not insane ,and it knew that it could not hold out against the people even if they had decided to bring in the military to suppress the more moderate positions, which would have been suicide for the government.

The government after five months decided to actually put the labor laws in a bill called the Iranian Labor Rights law. It included the right to make labor unions ten hour workdays minimum. It was a small step in the right direction for labor laws. On the democratic front they allowed more power to the Iranian lower house , with the shah ,and his cabinet seizing some power. The new government functioned more democratically ,Persia had just avoided a revolution ,and Nasser Al Din Shah Qajar was happy but bedridden in his bed in a Persian Rococo style palace while doped up on morphine due to the fact that he suffered a horse accident by falling from it by galloping. He had suffered several bone fractures of the femur ,and the arm ,it hurted a lot ,and he had to get morphine in his chest due to his arms getting amputated, he had almost died ,but he had survived but he would died due to infection of his wounds due to poor cleaning of his bandages he died on November 23 1899 in his palace.

His son Mehmet Shah Qajar succeeded him after a five month mourning period he was a bit of a nerd always reading books on science ,and classics like Ovid ,Plato, and Euclid. He also was a huge fan of dime store ,and regular science fiction novels whatever language they were in English, French ,and German. He had read them in their original languages since he did not trust the translators. He was a reverse Casanova , he could not get a woman not in his dad’s harem ,so he went with one of the nobles daughters, but he got rejected by all of them. His mother had to do an arranged marriage for him, he was a shy man, he had a slight limp, and short stature he physically thin but unassuming, and very quiet. The Persian army of 1894 was the exact same as others with maxims ,and bolt actions ,but they have good field guns like a copy of the French 75 mm repeater gun ,but instead of 75 mm they switched it with an 88 mm barrel ,and ammo. It also had a plan to look at overlooked designs in Europe ,and the USA. It had failed to bear fruit so far with wacky devices for weapons. However they did find this Scottish man’s patent for the wireless vocal messaging the man’s name was James Mcscott he was on all accounts a crazy mad scientist The Persians were Interested in his design it could be useful if it was smaller. They paid him a bunch of money for his designs and for him to improve it. This would be useful in the long run.

In 1863 war in Europe broke out over the January Uprising not the rebellion itself, but over Napoleon the third’s funding of the rebels in Poland. This led to a Russian DOW. France’s governmental decision was based off Napoleon the III desire to rebuild the Old Napoleonic Empire. However this goes back to Franz Josef I by a Hungarian Nationalist by the name of János Libényi who instead of using a knife in Franz Josef’s neck he stabbed him in the back in his right lung. He was struck down by Count Maximilian Karl Lamarol O’Donnell ,but the Emperor died in pain 3 hours later. He was soon arrested , and after a trial was hanged for Regicide.

Franz Joseph was replaced by his brother Maximilian who was crowned Maxmilian I. He was more liberal than his brother, he allowed a Constitution in 1855 which allowed freedom of speech, freedom of religion full citizenship of Jews. It also had a expanded universal suffrage of all men no matter what their rank in life was. However it was still somewhat Autocratic in the fact that the Minister president only answered to the emperor ,and not to the lower house or upper house. However it was a start for Austria. Maximilian I was seeing the need for army reform in 1858 due to the aftermath of the Crimean war ordering new rifles new railroads, and naval programs. Maximilian also renationalized the rail system in 1860 when a depression wacked Europe like a fast train.

The government bought bankrupted railways over two years. In 1863 The Conservatives of Mexico visited the Austrians, the Bavarians every catholic country on the earth until they got to Belgium ,and after several hours they had convinced Crown Prince Leopold to set up a ultra reactionary ,and absolutist Empire in Mexico he compiled ,and he went on a French ship on the Veracruz coast. He was crowned in Mexico city as Leopold I of Mexico. There was some Guerilla resistance in Mexico they were stopped by a peace treaty in Mexico many republican leaders like Porifirio Diaz was put in the Mexican Imperial Army as a General. Mexico would under economic growth via the backs native serfs and French money for heavy industries. Meanwhile back in Europe after France has declared war on Russia only Prussia was their allies because of their Polish lands in the east like in Posen.

The Polish Liberation Army as the insurgents were called took Warsaw in January 15 1864 after taking the western part of Poland. France had provided the Poles with a lot of weapons like cannons ,rifles ,and men invading Prussia. The British didn’t like Russia much , and wanting to get Russia out of the great game forever and tried to get Persia in the war but Persia got out of it by stipulating it is defensive only but they sent a volunteer division to help the allies of the UK ,Austria ,and France. France got Austria in the war by prosmising a Greater Germany led under Maximilian I and a greater Poland under his younger brother Karl Ludwig as King of Poland and Grand duke of Lithuania.

The Polish agreed on three conditions Posen, Galicia, and a constitutional monarchy. France agreed and Britain agreed. Austria said yes because it was an easy way to dump their Poles. The French fought an aggressive war with their Austrian allies on their West Prussian front stabilized 50 miles from Cologne, and on the Eastern Front its mainly on Silesia ,and for the British they blockaded the Baltic coast against both Prussia and Russia in 1864. The war was pretty long and difficult in the fact that the western front did not change much of anything the generals were still using Napoleonic tactics in the marching and the forming of lines. In April 8 1865 Vilnius and Lvov fell to Austria , and the Polish liberation army did some hit ,and run tactics in Belarus and Latvia.

The war wasn’t looking well for Russia ,and Prussia. The Royal Navy was blockading them they couldn’t get food in Prussia because all the poles were revolting in Silesia and west Prussia and they could n’t spare any more men to put down the revolts. They had to launch a final offense on the French forces in Koln and force them to a peace treaty. However the Prussian people began to rise up against the lack of food. The Prussian Government decided to stop the revolt ,and keep a holding force of 45,000 men in the western regions of Prussia ,but then the rest of the German Confederation attacked under the Hapsburg banner. The Prussian Army was pushed back towards the Elbe on November 18, 1866. The Prussians ,and Russians called an armistice the day after Europe’s bloodiest conflict costing 2 million lives ,and 1 .5 million wounded.

The Peace Treaty of Vienna signed by the powers in February 14, 1867. It had 7 points
1. The Kingdom of Prussia is to cede Posen to the Polish kingdom, and be annexed by Austria to the German Empire.
2. The Allies are at peace with Prussia
3. The unification is to be decided by vote.
4. The Prussian military is going to demobilize to peace levels, during the vote
5. Belarus ,and western Ukraine up to the Dnieper is to be ceded to Poland and also all the Baltic countries Estonia , Latvia ,and Lithuania is ceded to Poland.
6. The allies are at peace with the Russian Empire
7. The Russian Empire is to pay 50 million pounds each to the allies.

This made the Russians madder than the Prussians since they had to pay a crap ton of money to the allies, and much of their western lands gone. Some in the Russian government wanted to fight on until they got a better deal. They were shot down immediately due to the fact they would be steamed by all of Europe.

The Russian delegation led by Prince Alexander Gorchakov signed the treaty of Vienna on February 24 1867. In Russia there were riots on the fact that Russia lost, Tsar Alexander II managed to call the army to crush the rioters. He had thought that it was time for massive reforms after a while of stability

In 1870 ordered the Zemstvo in every city be expanded in their rights. In 1872 he had reformed the Russian civil code to be more like the French one, and to top it off in 1876 he decided to start a soviet in where the local zemstvos of the provinces would report to St.Petersburg they would pick up the 5 most oldest council members to make the state soviet .

The State Soviet would have 500 men in the lower with 6 two years terms they could run consecutively but they had quit for a term before they could run again. The upper house was like the house of lords ,anyone that got a peerage from the Tsar or Minister President. The Minister President now had more power than the Tsar, which still had veto power ,and ability to dissolve the entire parliament. Alexander II had also started to make a new constitution with the first calling of the duma deciding on what they both wanted. Both of them wanted to emulate the Anglo/American system of democratic governance.

Alexander II was a moderate, but he saw the need for massive reform like when in the aftermath of Crimean War. He decided that a serf country could not win against Industrial nations ,and he reached a similar conclusion with this. He basically along with the people in the duma basically copied and pasted the US bill of rights ,and the declaration of rights of man. The Russian constitution of 1876 for the first time limited the Tsar’s power ,and made him to share power with the soviet. After a while in 1880 the Russian economy grew ,and they had begun to industrialized a little bit ,and he was not as stressed as he used to be. He had not sold Alaska to the Americans since the war , and he didn’t want to sell it due to his pride ,and wanting to restore Russian honor.

He wanted to wait until they had found something of value , His dream came in 1881 when a couple of Indigenous men went down on the Yukon in the summer one was a convert to the Russian Orthodox Church ,and his brother Stephan, and Mikhail Alexanderovich Ivanov were the sons of a missionary and a Tagish woman. They were about 24 when they decided to go on a search to find their parents ,who got lost during a mission trip. They stopped in Rabbit creek in Canada when Stephan fell into the lake and had gold dust in his hand. Stephan had been shocked they found gold dust in his hand, and then they had found their parents . He had shown his father his gold ,and his father Alexander made him go to a Russian trading post .

They went up to the closest man in power . They sent a message via sled to the nearest boat which sent it to Vladivostok, which did sent it to St. Petersburg, then to Minster President Prince Gorchakov. He knew what had happened with the Mexicans, and the Texans, and he wanted to keep it secret ,but Tsar Alexander II wanted him to expose it due to Russian desire for money. News of the gold rush hit the world like a punch to a face, the people began to come to Alaska, mainly Canadians, and Americans ,and some Russians came to southern Alaska.

By 1891 the population had shot up from 700 to 12000. Russia decided to explore the interior of Alaska with a 5 man Cossack team. In Germany the vote in Prussia was set on June 4 1867. The Prussian government knew they would lose.

The vote was 55 percent in favor of the German unification. The German question was on how to rule Germany ,and Hungary, plus the southern Slavic lands. Maximilian had an epiphany ,what if his empire was a federal state something like the HRE ,but with teeth. Eventually he decided to let Hungary be a coequal kingdom, along with a Slavic kingdom in Croatia made up of Croatia ,Vojvodina, and Slovenia.

They would meet in Berlin as a unified structure with 100 members from Germany, and 100 from Hungary ,100 from Croatia. There were two autonomous diets based in Zagreb, and Budapest. They would decide internal affairs, but not affairs of the entire state. The Diet of the Austrian Empire approved the idea ,but the senate was deadlocked ,and Maximilian said to the conservative senate “ I’ll replace you with a bunch of liberals ,and limit your power!”

He had eventually got his way ,and Austria announced the dissolution of the German Confederation, and the establishment of the United States of the German Empire. Hungary and Croatia were in Personal union along with Lombardy. It was a Federal state even in the non German territories . The German Empire was Proclaimed on January 25,1868

Update if anyone cares

. Maximilian was actually kind of happy ,and kind of stressed. He was now ruler of pretty much all of central Europe ,and in Poland his brother ruled. In China they were doing pretty well for themselves expect for the fact that they were being attacked by every industrial power within range of land ,and sea. They had tried resisting in the first ,and second opium wars. Those didn’t work out well for the Chinese , the British managed to get free ports to sell opium ,and Russians got outer Manchuria ,due to Chinese weakness.

This all changed in 1865 when Dowager Empress Cixi died of alleged natural causes. In truth she choked on a small fish bone during a meal. Although some were accused, what had happened was suppressed in the country, this enabled prince Gong to take power by consolidating his power in the Qing court, and he begun to be the power behind the throne of the Tongzhi emperor. He knew that the Ironhat faction who had tried to oppose his self strengthening movement, who needed someone to rally around , and that someone was Dowager Empress Ci’an ,however she didn’t want to get involved in politics, and Prince Gong didn’t want to kill her ,but he wanted the Ironhats out of his way ,and he wanted to restore China to glory, and he hatched a plan to cause a “bad accident” to Ci’an. So in 1868 Ci’an had a stroke which caused her to die in the Forbidden City, some people had accused Prince Gong as her assassin. In truth his plot to kill her would be a few months later. He would assume to be regent to the young Tongzhi emperor. Prince Gong and the young Emperor would modernized the Chinese economy by streamlining production by eliminating sincures (jobs that had a high salary ,but had no work).

In 1873 they had began to reform the army ,and build a railroad from Beijing to Tianjin, and Shanghai. The Tongzhi Emperor abolished the old way of taxation with a new western style of collecting taxes. They had also abolished the old Confucian way of education for scholars, and they had replaced the Grand council with something like an Autocratic constitutional monarchy. They had begun to build telegraphic lines for easier communication between Beijing and the major cities. They had also in 1875 made queues illegal, and built up a small 100,000 man army that knew modern weaponry through the Germans, that had reformed the army with breechloaders. In the year 1881 they had built a medium sized navy to guard coasts, and they had destroyed the old ways that had held China back ,and well somewhat on the second part large parts had remained poor ,and backward.

In 1879 they had ordered a Battleship from German shipyards called the Tingyuan ,and the Chenyuan. They were the biggest ships in the Chinese Arsenal at 7,500 tons each. China had also expanded to a 200,000 man elite military force. They were divided into 4 regions Beiyang, Fujian, Nanyang, and Guangdong regions. They were under a central command, and in 1869 they had instituted a draft for all men at age 18 for two years. They had also outlawed footbinding, and had begun to change the legal code to something British like. They had built several factories that produced armaments, and they had built several universities by 1881. They had not seen a war coming with France in 1883,and were not prepared at all for the invasion of Vietnam. They had given some arms to the Vietnamese, but not enough to protect themselves. The Sino French war had started over an accidental killing of a French diplomat. To avenge the killing of him, they had sent a 2000 man force under Jacques Milleux to Hanoi.

They had marched to a bridge in Hue. When he saw a 6,000 man army of the black flag army, he thought it will still be easy. After a five hour battle the French army surrendered to the Black Flag Army. This kicked off the Sino-French war in 1884 which had lasted until 1886 . The Qing force sent 50,000 men that were armed in the latest guns ,and cannons. The French had sent 25,000 men underestimating the Chinese as a bunch of yellow rabble. The Black Army, and the Vietnamese Army numbered 40,000. They used a mixed force of guns, bows, swords, pikes, and cannon . Their first battle of Hanoi ended with a bloody victory for the Chinese. They had lost half of their men, but the French lost 10,000 KIA , 2,500 WIA. They had withdrawn to the southern part of Tonkin, hoping to relaunch an offensive to take Hanoi in August meanwhile the French fleet was attacking Foochow, and Taiwan.

The Chinese Fujian fleet ,and Guangdong fleet were smaller than then French Far east flotilla ,and they had wireless telegraphs for easier communications between themselves. The Fleet commander Li Hongzhen was a western educated naval officer. He wasn’t a new guy ,he was a veteran of the Opium wars as a ship commander. His flagship was a 2,000 ton cruiser ICS Zhenyang. The two fleets combined into 1 fleet of 30 ships which was smaller than the Far east squadron by 4 ships. They were going to get help from the two bigger fleets in a couple months. The French knew this ,and attacked them head on. What they didn’t expect was a lot of Chinese resistance.

The siege of Foochow lasted for months with marines trying to seize the base. The Chinese navy didn’t have any large battleships in their two local fleets. The ships had decided to launch diversions for the French fleet. He decided to attempt to jump them at night in the middle of the Taiwanese strait. The siege of Foochow wasn’t going well for the French they did lose two battleships sunk in the battle including Admiral Amedee Courbet died in his flagship Bayard. The French had also lost in an offensive in Hue therefore they were deciding whether or not to call a truce.

The only reason they called a truce was protest ,and strikes at home against the adventure in China. Napoleon IV emperor of the French decided to call a truce. His government decided to talk terms with China. The war stopped in April 5, 1886 ,as the Chinese took Saigon. It was a cease fire ,and the Treaty of Hanoi was in May 1 1886. There were three points France will pay 2 billion francs over 5 years to China. Tonkin ,Annam, and Cochin china will be part of Vietnam. Thirdly Vietnam was under Suzerainty of the Chinese Empire.

I think the idea is very interesting (a modernize Persia being able to fight off the Russians is a treat), but I don't get this deep impact on european and american matters.

Seem implausible that a stronger Persia would radically change world matters (at least not before the 20th century), changes seems to me more likely in relation to Russia and the Ottoman Empire. A stronger Persia would then sooner or later also set its sights on the persian gulf (nationalistic propaganda would have a field day) clashing with British interesting (but while having to avoid having enemies on all sides, so maybe this latter is the less likely).

A little more detail in your descriptions would also help, although your later posts kind of address this already. :)

. They were very happy in China, They got more fear in the world, and something akin to national pride. They had begun to build up the Chinese Navy specifically the Fujian and Guangdong ports, and naval shipyards. They had also bought two more battleships something like the Pelayo class in Spain. The Chinese Industrial complex could build everything expect Cruisers, and Battleships. Steel Production went up to make more railroads. They were certainly going places, and the Chinese were regaining their old strength. Railroads were spurted all over inner China. Some of the railroads were even reaching the Mongols, and central China.

However the major industrial areas of the coast were heavily polluted with smog, and raw sewage. They had been building more sewers but that had to be continued until 1895 when all the demand in the cities stopped. China was expanding internally with peasants having more money to buy meat. Meanwhile in Mexico Leopold had just looking over Mexico with an iron fist, he had launched mass industrial projects in Mexico City ,and central mexico. He had made the factories part of the new noveau riche in the 1870’s. They were later built on the coasts for exports in Europe. He had begun to reform the Mexican Military into a copy of the French army ,and navy. It had took so long, but in 1891 they were a rising power in the Americas. This was not enough for Leopold. He had dreams of conquering Central America, but he was ambitious enough to put Mexican business in Hawaii controlling the part of economies of the isle. In 1885 he had also convinced Mexico to give money, and support to the fighters of the Honduras. They had supported several fighters in there. By December the fighting stopped in the country.

The Honduran civil war had ended and Jose Maria Galvez the leader of the fighters declared himself President of Guatemala. Leopold had a plan to get rid of the revolutionaries. He had invited them to a meeting in Mexico City, and he had got them in a giant party ,and he had gotten them in a room and made a treaty that said in a event of. Which then the Mexicans decided to hand them a treaty making Guatemala a province of Mexico by buying it He had given them 2 million pounds for the land , but they had refused they had went back to Guatemala to fight the Mexicans however it was all for nought. In 1887 the war had stopped mainly due to the fact that the fighters were dead ,and their homes burned down. This in the future was call La Guerra de la sangre sin fin.(The war of endless blood) He had pacified the country ,and he also promised the British that their companies wouldn’t be interfered by Mexico.

America had been isolationist due to being extremely paranoid of getting in a war with Great Britain ,and France. President Williams was an isolationist of the Republican Party. He wanted to concentrate on economic development, and in his words “The United States is a republic and not an Empire.” When he read the Concrete Exile from Eden, by Steven William Upton it had described an average workingman life of hardship and starvation. He had simply dismissed it, a rambling piece of drivel. He had only acted on it due to massive protest. Congress had launched a half hearted investigation of the matter which was slowed down by massive graft by the various industries that were active in the era ,and the book. All in all by the end of the investigation in May 1, 1893. They only had passed a couple of new laws, that were absolutely pointless because it had required big corporations to sign off if regulations were followed. The enforcers were usually volunteers and pretty easy to bribe. The Williams Presidency was one of the most corrupt and bribe money flowed through the white house ,and the Americans had no desire for change except for the socialist party of America. They were able to get in several
state assemblies ,and were running several candidates for House ,and Senate. Soon change was a- coming ,and the world will never be the same. The world by 1900 would change ,by Mexico being a power comparable to France ,and it also had a foreign legion just like France . They had an Mexican of the name Theodoro Ramirez Leading it . Mexico had also attacked the other Central American countries by tricking the rest of the world by disguising Mexican soldiers as Guatemalan, El Salvadorian, and Costa Rican. Leopold had a media empire behind and he was close to the British and the French. He was able to tell the world about the central Americans were conspiring to take over the Yucatan.

He was able to make stuff up from the Mexican papers ,that was playing up the offensive by the various central American countries. When the war was over in 1894 he had put several military commanders as governors of the new provinces of Mexico. Leopoldo I of Mexico died in 1895 while on a hunting trip in the Yucatán he had caught a cut from a tree which then died from a infection in the jungle. His son Leopoldo II took the throne while there was a Mayan Revolt in the south ,and the central American provinces. One of his first orders in his reign was to “put down the revolt with whatever means necessary.” Often times it met that the people were put in camps filled with diseases and no food to eat , villages were burnt to the ground to dissuade guerrilla groups against rising again. It took ten years and a lot of guns with at least 70,000 men dead by the end. He had like his father had encouraged more immigration from Europe from every country in there. By 1905 he had decided to be a Constitutional Monarch like in the UK but with slightly more power like vetoing bills and making the President of the government only answerable to him.
