Gamal Abdel Nasser was President of Egypt from 1956 until his death from a heart attack in 1970. During his reign, he became a poster child for anti-imperialist and Pan-Arab movements all over the Middle East. He was the founder of the United Arab Republic, a short-lived union of Egypt and Syria and he also led Egypt through the Six-Day War which Egypt lost. He also founded the still-existing Non Aligned Movement. He was neutral during the Cold War, owing allegiance to neither the US nor the Soviet Union.

However, before he became President, he made it well known his distrust and hatred for the Muslim Brotherhood and their religious ideology, even laughing at the idea of Egyptian women wearing burqas.

On 26th October 1964, Nasser was addressing a crowd in Alexandria to celebrate the British military withdrawal from Egypt. During this, Muslim Brotherhood member Mahmoud Abdel-Latif fired eight shots at Nasser, all of which missed.

But what if the bullets had found their mark and Gamal Abdel Nasser was killed?
