Napoleon's Wives

So I just finished reading an excellent biography on Emperor Napoleon and it has sort of inspired to begin planning a TL about a surviving Napoleonic Empire. I think the best way to accomplish this is for Napoleon to focus on the Peninsular War rather than invading Russia

I was wondering what the minor difference of having Tsar Paul I not being assassinated in 1801 and Napoleon not marrying Archduchess Marie Louise of Austria but rather marrying Archduchess Catherine of Russia would have had on the rest of the Napoleonic War

Paul surviving is enormous; I wonder what's gone differently in Russia that it's possible? While it's understandable given the family history, he's a man who literally goes out of his way to hurt and humiliate his courtiers and guardsmen, yet thanks to his mother those same courtiers have been trained for 20 years to hold him in contempt and seriously wonder when or if his own mother would kill him. He is - ill-equipped for honest and trustworthy relationships. Nearly everyone in Russia wants him dead, right or wrong. And he has adult sons to replace him.

When is this Napoleonic marriage taking place?

I think it unlikely that either marriage affects the wars directly; Napoleon regards women as irrelevant and Paul isn't going to ascribe much significance to his daughter. The changes come in the peace deal, which will still be a Bourbon restoration in all likelihood but any Bonaparte children will be raised in Russia, with Russia and Prussia feeling poorly used by Britain and Austria.

She was by all accounts politically a very conservative lady, with traditional ideas of virtues. I don't know how well they'd get on with Napoleon.
