Napoleon's Plans for Russia

What was Napoleon's plan for Russia? I'm talking his most pie-in-the-sky victory scenario, what does he do with Russia? Would he carve out new kingdoms? Romantically resurrect Novgorod and Kiev and Minsk? Or is it only about knocking them out of the war? Did he ever talk about it explicitly or is there just speculation based on what he did everywhere else?

I have read that there was a plan for a kingdom of Smolensk and that Davout was lined up, I can't remember, either as king of this or of Moscow

Are there any sources that state that this was what Napoleon was planning?

I would expect, at the very *least* an either Grand Duchy of Warsaw or greatly enlarged Kingdom of Poland, off the top my head

Since Napoleon stayed in Moscow for more than a month and waited for the Tsar's response, probably he wanted only a limited peace, with a Tsar and without any sort of partition plan for Russia.

Russia Against Napoleon, Book by Dominic Lieven, claimed that Napoleon's pre-war goal was either to "smack the Russians and restore a small Poland" or to "smash the Russians and restore a greater Poland". So the worst things could go for Russia was to go back to its Pre-Peter-The-Great borders.

That's good to know, the pre-war goal, that is. Still, one wonders if that's what he would have done in the presence of unquestioned and total success.

Really, Napoleon just wanted Russia back into the fold and was willing to offer a generous peace for it. He dithered on the Polish question and was still under the idea that Russia could be a great ally for France. If he'd managed to pull off a victory, I imagine he would have offered some generous terms, Poland wouldn't have changed that much and Russia would have had to come back into the Continental Blockade.

Everything I've read (granted, not as extensive as many here) indicate that Nap never planned for a total victory, and that he was quite wishy washy on any sort of nation building in Poland. He expected Russian troops would come out to meet him at the border, he would beat the crap out of them, give them a pleasant peace, while taking a little bit just to be punitive (it was his MO for all the major powers), and probably totally screw over the Polish. He was kind to any who he thought was a major power, and ran roughshod over the rest.

Russia messed him up because they didn't behave according to plan, and he was left with attempting to do what he should have known he couldn't do. IF, by some miracle, his perseverance had paid off, he'd have stuck to his original plan, with maybe a little more punishment for his troubles, thanking his lucky stars he could get out while the getting was good. Or, maybe he'd be obstinate and obtuse and pushed on for more (ala Spain) and ultimately lose. It'd take two miracles to have him achieve complete devastating victory, and a third miracle to have a complete revamping of the russian scene turn out well for him.
