Napoleonic military tactics?

I'm studying seriously the Napoleonic Wars for the first time since hs but i still can't understand how Napoleon managed to.. well, do what he did.

Anyway, i would like to know more about the innovations he apported in european military tactics and about his life. Feel free to just throw the names of some books/biography, and i'll look for them.

(Are requests allowed?)

Speed was a major innovation of the French army at the time. Living off the ground as opposed to relying on long lines of supply meant that they could take what they wanted without being slowed down a baggage train. In turn, this led to the French army being able to strike before the enemy could prepare themselves. This had a downside though as shown in Russia and Spain. Once in an area without major crops and other food supplies to steal, the French army suffered, badly.

A favourite tactic by Napelon himself was to use the greater speed of his army to strike at two enemy armies before they could join up and converge their strength. Strike at one, drive it away and then turn on the other while it was isolated.
