Since Napoleon did have some contact with the Tipu Sultan, I was wondering what would happen to the Mysore Sultanate, and Tipu Sultan in a Napoleonic victory.
In what year? Tipu Sultan was defeated in 1799. Can Napoleon achieve a victory by then, enough to save him? I doubt it. Napoleon had no power over France when Tipu Sultan was defeated.
Nappy has barely dipped his toe in the Nile. You'd need a pretty extensive POD to make this work; combining a delayed British campaign against Mysore while basically butterflying away the entire Near Eastern campaign of the War of the 2nd Cohalition. Maybe Talleyrand is actually honest in his intentions to merely subdue the autonomy of the Mamalukes to restore direct Ottoman authority in exchange for the Turks shipping the French Army of the Orient to India (Not that such an operation is actually feesable and is likely to blow up in both France and the Ottoman's faces, which prevents the Napoleon Victorious prerequisite.)
Nappy conquering India is Unmentionable Sea Mammal.
I like the idea. But if the British find out about it the Ottoman fleet in the Indian Ocean will be beaten up by the EIC. If there is one...
However... Selim III reputation will be tarnished for letting the 'infidel fight against his religious kin'. It is like giving the Janissaries more reasons to revolt.
Tipu probably would be attacked and defeated by Nizam and Marathas even if the English left him alone
