Napoleon Stays a Corsican

I remember reading somewhere that Napoleon spent the first couple years of the French Revolution in Corsica, and was actually a fervent Corsican nationalist for quite a while, but then he slowly became more and more Frenchified. So, let's say that Napoleon doesn't forget his roots, and stays Corsican. What would occur?

Little-known story: he actually wanted to go to England to be an officer in the Royal Navy, but his father paid for him to go to Paris instead.

Napoleon is trained by the Royal Navy but loses his commission in some sort of incident, winding up a privateer attacking French shipping during the next Anglo-French war and becoming the pirate-king of Corsica?

This is possibly the most badass thing I have heard.

And that was going to happen in my latest attempt at a TL. Sigh.
Pirate-King Napoleon unifying Italy via Corsica?! Or just normal Napoleon unifying Italy via Corsica?

The first is significantly more badass, but I'd be extremely interested in either. Don't give up on it!

Little known fact: His family actually adopted an african named Giaco and for a short time before he died from what was presumed to be cholera, he was found to be very close to Napoleon.

The latter, by way of being pretty much warlord of India. By latest, I mean I haven't done anything on it in a few months. I lose interest in my own stuff fast.

Whasn't there a time line where Napoleone fought for the Italians? Where Sardinia was granted Corsica and Bounaparte became a Sardinian General?
I am sure I read that once - would love to read it again! (sounds like one of Faeelin's - you got your ears on good budy? come on back now - Y'all hear?)

Haha, well he is on record as having said that if he were born German then he would certainly have unified the HRE. Such was his ego...and he was probably right, too.

That would have been interesting...A Prussian Napoleon, now there's a scary thought.

Napoleon, disbarred from joining the French army because of an injury sustained in a riding accident, joins the Corsican Liberation Front...
