Napoleon opened Japan´s ports

What if the fleet isn´t wrecked totally by Lord Nelson and Napoleon, as an emperor becomes adventurous and opens Nippons havens lets say about 50 years earlier, before Perrey OTL ?

Um, sorry, what?

They have the time to travel all the way to Japan? What happened to the wars?

Its possible I supposed if unlikely. So lets imply Napoleon wins the war and Spain is officially ruled by his brother Joseph. French ships were fighting in the Indian Ocean during the war and if Napoleon now controls of Philippines I suppose he could make a go for Japan.

Okay I mean the Shogunates, which are in a place, we all know as Japan.

I don't think that was the point he was making. The point he was making is how does the Napoleonic fleet decide their time is better served sailing around the world on a grand adventure to gain a small amount of foreign trade than you know, fighting England and doing their jobs?

Yeah, that's what I meant to say...

Yes, sounds more like something the British would do/are capable of doing so. Maybe the only way would be a Napoleonic/Russian alliance, which allows such expeditions after the Empire is seriously weakened (which would be very hypothetical as well).
