Napoleon lands in Italy during 1815.

I was reading Count of Monte Cristo and there some of the characters theorize that Napoleon, coming from Elba, could be landing either in Tuscany or in Naples, rather than France. What would be the consequences of such a move?

There's no logical reason why he would do this. The entire reason for his escape from Elba was to retake his throne. It doesn't make any sense that he'd land in Italy.

It was closer. He could use Italian armies to add them back to the French ones later on, as France's were depleted. His brother-in-law, Murat, ruled in Naples too and allied with him in OTL Hundred days.

Keep in mind, however, that Murat was the first of his allies to betray him (so the Coalition would let him keep his throne), and only returned to his side once it was clear Napoleon was quick gaining support in France again. I wouldn't be surprised if Murat immediately had him jailed and turned over to Britain/Prussia/Austria in order to curry even more favor with the Allies. Furthermore, while Napoleon was relatively popular in certain parts of Italy, he was far more popular in France, and I don't think Italian soldiers would flock to his banner the way the French did.
