Napoleon joins the British royal navy- what would happen next....

When reading about Napoleon Bonaparte for a project, i discoverd somthing amazing....... apparently, when he was young, Napoleon didn't consider joining the French army..... he was pulled towords joining the navy..... The BRITISH navy!

suppose this wish was fulfilled- what are the main effects on France, the revolution, and perhaps most interestingly..... how Napoleons navel career develop? will we see commodore Bonaparte- terror of the Mediterranean sea?
what do you think?

up until he was convinced to join the consulate, he wasn't particularly political minded so he might just become a very career driven officer in the RN.

I've got a book called One Thousand Years of Annoying the French, and it mentions this idea. It theorises that Bonaparte becomes a dictator in Britain, with Wellington and incongrously Queen Victoria having to seize the throne back on a wave of revolutionary ferment. Makes a good story, but pretty darn unlikely. I mean, Arthur Wellesley gaining the title of Duke of Wellington without the Napoleonic Wars? I'm calling Bats.

Napoleon would need to fall in with an influential Captain because as a lowly Corsican he would have none of the vital "interest" necessary to advance in the Royal Navy...

Perhaps Cochrane the Sea Wolf. He did not get on with the Admiralty but together they could make quite a team. And maybe they could both go into politics founding the Radical Party as a major third party in British politics.

He wouldn't last, his pride wouldn't allow him to be talked down to for so long by the British Navy. Maybe he would go pirate......now that would be interesting.

Read look to the west by thande. Part ii is active currently.

Napoleon, or a close atl brother is in the rn for a while.... only a minor subplot among about 14 dozen subplots, but still.

Thande covers a minor subplot wiyh the lavish skill and devotion most of the rest of us wish we could manage for our main plots.

Go thande!
