Napoleon escapes Elba

Say for whatever reason, unrest in Britain leading to the breakdown of civil administration allows a group of armed conspirators to storm St Helena and successfully escape with Napoleon in tow. What are his political or military prospects now that he is in his 50’s?

Possibly a career in a South American Republic? Pulling a Lafayette and making an appearance for the 1830 insurrection in France? A quiet retirement in the United States?

If he wants to live he should remain quietly... because this time the French king, with British support will execute him.

Now going to Mexico would be... interesting...

There was actually a very far-fetched plan to smuggle Napoleon out of Santa Helena, with the help of french exiles, and make him lead a Revolution out of Brazilian Northeast in 1817. It would take ridiculous, almost-ASB levels of luck to happen, but i actually plan to make in a distant future a TL of it, because why not?

To be honest, that whole "civil breakdown in Britain" sounds like a much more far-reaching POD o_O

Well, I had a republican Britain timeline going with a POD centered around the Cato Street Conspiracy, but real life got in the way and I was forced to end it very prematurely. I hope to resurrect it in the next few weeks, and I posted this since I was toying around with this idea of Napoleon

Do you think he’d be able to lead a Mexican Republic? I have a feeling that local leaders wouldn’t take too kindly with being outshined by the obviously ambitious Bonaparte, but on the other hand he would be a massive help to their cause.
